Do you still have the play from Walsh's playbook, wich link is broken?

I'll have to find it.....I don't have it on my phone anymore. I have a printed Walsh 1982 playbook at home....I'll have to track it down in there.

I knew I saw the old school 49ers run that play. I thought it was Montana, but it was Young. Awesome find!

WHOA! That's incredible. I wonder how Steve Young felt when he watched that play unfold.

I also wonder if the coaching staff has to see something in the study of Seattle's defense to even suggest a play like this.

It can't just be as simple as, "well, we haven't run this play for 35-years, let's give it a shot!"

It worked then. It worked last night. Bill Walsh: NFL FRICKEN Genius! And who knows if it was really him who came up with that play.

Kyle in the Presser mentioning something about running a variation of this play about once a year. I also think Kyle mentioned about wanting to call this vs Quarters because the pump fakes usually leave the middle naked.

After watching last nights game I am convinced the NFL is rigged….. It happens way too often in Seattle especially when the Niners play there.

Glad we won but the officiating has really taken away the joy of the game and the moment……It's fast becoming a game I'm losing interest in.

The flags in the first half that stalled what would have otherwise been two scoring drives, the ridiculous roughing the passer call that nullified our pick 6 and a 28-3 lead, we always get screwed in Seattle with bad calls…. Can there really be that many bad refs in the league?

I feel as if I've finally had my moment of clarity, the officiating stinks because it is rigged.

I don't think they're outright rigging games with predetermined winners. That would be to difficult to do and keep quiet.

What I think they are doing is using the officials to influence how they want a game to go because of the amount of money that gambling and fantasy football generates, and tweaking the rules for that benefit.

Scoring points is what puts butts in seats, what drives fantasy football, and what gets people to put money down at sports books, all of which makes more money for the NFL.

It's why holding penalties aren't being called, why roughing the passer penalties are called like they are, etc.

A similar thing happened with MLB and it's steroid scandal, starting with the McGwire/Sosa home run chase thru the mid 00s. MLB, including then commissioner Bud Selig, and the owners knew those players were using steroids, but did nothing to stop it because it made them a ton of money.

Good reveal. Thanks. I also wonder if it takes a special kind of QB to pull off a play like this. It calls for a good amount of discipline and a QB who can sell those pump fakes like a used car salesman trying to unload a Ford Pinto.

Purdy does appear to have this ability. In watching both plays, the one from 1987 and the one from last night, it appears to me that Purdy did a better job of selling those pump fakes than Young did.

First time I remember seeing that was against Detroit in 1994. We also did it in 2018 IRCC.

42:50, except even though a linemen goes left to fake the screen, Watters on the left side aborts the fake screen to block a free rusher. But it's clearly the same play.

So it looks like this is the first time we swept the Seahawks since 2011.

Incredible!
Anyone know if this was the first time we had a ton of 49ers fans in the crowd? I was shocked how loud it was when the Seattle Seahawks were on third down.

Well now we know that Wilson was the real reason we could never beat them.
This was a classic example of a game that wasn't as close as the final score. The seahawks were absolutely stuffed the entire game until that quick TD at the end of the game. Mreanwhile the Niners could have easily had 17 more points.

That defensive TD that got called back sucked. I know Bosa said it was probably the right call and maybe it was based on the rules, but I rewatched it about 5 times and I don't know how he could have completed that play and not landed on top of the QB. That rule needs to be changed. If it's obvious that the defender is trying to drive him into the ground then it should be a penalty. That wasn't the case here. It was a good clean tackle. At the very least they should review calls like that. They review everything else.

Then we had a mossed FG which Gould usually makes. Cap it off with the run to the 1 yard line where they just killed the clock.

The final score here could have been 38-13.

idk how to post images in here - but the 49ers have had two 8 game streaks before where the defense allowed 15 or less points in our history.
1. 1981 season
2. 1984 season
3. 2022 Season - currently on a 7 game streak of 15 pts allowed a game

… if we can do this to Washington…. Then we will be in the right side of history 😈

That was the weakest roughing call in the history of history.

I swear that was called from NY to keep viewers on the game
