Not much drop off based off what? Fred Warner has missed one start in five seasons. Again, let me repeat that: Fred Warner has missed ONE start in FIVE seasons. Since Fred has been here, no other player has had to carry the burden of being the "quarterback" of the defense and wearing the green dot. Fred has to know everyone's assignments, alignments, and relay and adjust the play calls. The other 10 guys just get to play.

How exactly would you know there's no drop off when there's only been 1 game in 5 seasons where a player other than Fred has had to be the Mike LB?

Umm because greenlaw and al-shareer are also good linebackers?

Warner is being paid almost 20 million a year. He nowhere near as good as Willis or Bowman were. For what he's paid he should be making game changing takeaway plays.

I'm not saying he's not good I'm saying with that money could you do something else somewhere else. He's worth 3-4 rotational dline players or another great cornerback.

I would trade him for sauce straight up right now if there was no penalty. In a heartbeat.

Deebo and him are the only ones this year not living up to what they are paid. They are good players they just are not generational players.

Again, neither of them has had to play Mike LB for more than 1 game.*

Didn't Al play Mike when Warner and Law were out the same time last year
Purdy three first round and a third.

We don't have much cap space next year, unless we start reworking some players deals which is just kicking the can down the road, and we also don't have many picks, we have some comp picks after the end of the 3rd round and some regular picks after that, but no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, and I think we traded our 4th as well in the CMC trade.
I would look to trade Aiyuk for a 2nd and a 3rd, and Armstead for a 4th, this way we gain some picks to add young talent to the roster, while getting out of Armsteads remaining deal and losing Aiyuk before he wants to get a huge raise.

Bosa needs to get extended, and we can actually extend him while saving cap space in 2023, CMC I would keep his contract as is because we have him for 2 more years at 12 million a season. CMC should get 9-12 rush attempts a game to keep him fresh, while also lining him up at slot to try and get 3-5 receptions a game from him.

No. Just no.

Extending Bosa and reworking Armstead and CMC deal will give them the cap space necessary to sign the pieces they need.

Warner makes the pass D go. He's absolutely living up to what he's being paid.
Lance for picks wouldn't net as much as we'd want. 2nd and 3rd maybe unless demand for QBs push it up. Maybe net a young player for him instead of there is a demand high enough to actually part with him. ESPN suggested last month Lance for Pitts. Atlanta should have taken a QB that draft and needs one bad now. They won't finish high enough for a top guy. Pitts had a good first year but they just had him run blocking this year and then he got hurt.
We'd save face by trading all the picks for another weapon that could play wr/te. Atlanta gets a QB of the future that can play all the snaps and improve as the team grows. Win win.

No to trading Lance, we still haven't seen his potential. The QB injuries this year, says otherwise to trade him.
It depends on how far Purdy takes us. If the rookie wall pops up and we go out early or mid-round in the playoffs Lance is still an option. If we go to the moon and receive a decent offer for Lance go for it. How many defenses are as good as Washington's? Not many, it looks like the NFC goes through us.

Some people want to destroy the team. Totally agree with your plan.
What free agents do we have to pay to keep next year?

Not many linebackers in the history of the NFL were as good as Willis and Bowman in their prime. We as fans were so incredibly fortunate to see them play together for as long as they did. There truly might not be a better tandem then those 2.

That being said, Warner isn't the same linebacker as either of those two. Bowman and Willis drove you backwards, they were thumpers who could also cover. Warner has some nice hits from time to time but I wouldn't classify him as a thumper. He's fast and gets to the ball quick. But his pass coverage is probably second to none in the league right now and I would say it's safe to say is better then prime Willis and prime Bowman.

It is about what they are worth not if we are going to trade them.

Actually the thread does suggest if we were to trade them, what is their worth.
