The issue is if KC ends up 14-3 and Bills end up with 13-3, then does that mean KC gets the #1 seed because of they have more wins? This puts Bills at an unfair disadvantage where they have been #1 seed for most of the season and due to the cancellation, it now could shift them to #2 seed.

Note: Obviously the most important thing is Damar Hamlin's life. Everything is else noise in the grand scheme of things

My suggestion here in the gameday thread is you play week 18 like normal. You then create a new week 19 in which there is one game CIN v BUF. You push the playoffs back 1 week. Teams would have to agree to rematch.

And all teams get a bye and the #1 seed would get two byes unless of course Buffalo gets the #1 seed. Buffalo would just have to live with having just one bye if they were to earn the #1 seed.

I think most teams probably wouldn't want 2 byes. Thats a lot of time away from playing football and keeping game ready.

Not only that, it still has unfair complications with the loser of CIN vs BUF in Week 19. One (possibly both) teams would have to play the following week while every other playoff team gets a bye week going into the playoffs.

The only way this extra week would work is CIN vs BUF plays week 18 and every other game from week 18 pushes to Week 19. NFL though already said Week 18 games are going to play as scheduled, so this rules out this option.

Cowherd is talking about giving both teams a tie. I think that sounds like the best solution. Otherwise, they play a condensed week, higher likelihood of injuries, so on. Let the Bills have the final say.

KC been handed the #1 seed on a silver platter. 49ers fans are going to love that.
Flip a coin for each quarter left to determine the winner of that quarter.

So CIN was winning the 1st quarter, so they get that one.

So they flip for the 2nd quarter, then the 3rd, and then the 4th. Whoever has the lead, wins.

If it is tied, it goes to overtime, where they do one more flip to determine the winner.

I can't imagine the NFL is gona be too big on giving the rest of the field a bye just before the playoffs.

They gona have to work out some kind of DNP magic to even out the records and account for the game not played.

This is certainly uncharted territory.

Not to mention the advertising and logistical nightmares associated with moving the SB back 1 week.

As stated by another poster, this would give KC #1 pick on a silver platter.

I would rather just give both teams the win rather than both a tie.

Play it on Madden

/problem
i agree with just giving them a tie and move on.

I could careless about the AFC until the SB. That s**t has no bearing on the Niners

Don't be shocked if this game gets postponed. I don't think anybody in the NFL feels like playing again anytime soon after what happened tonight.

All that said, hoping and praying Hamlin somehow pulls through.

A guy had a medical emergency on the job. What does this have to do with football?

This just makes some damn sense.
Much more equitable than calling the game a tie. Each team had possession and that netted the Bengals a 7-3 advantage.

Best wishes to Damar.

A tie is the best outcome. It doesn't affect the seeding one bit and keeps stakes alive for the final week of football…

But it does. The Ravens could still win the AFCN if CIN lost that game last night. The only path for BUF to get the bye is if the Chiefs lose to the Raiders, a team they own.

if they start the playoffs a week later i'd guess they'd be more likely to cancel the extra week off and Pro Bowl leading up to the SB. , there was only one week between Championship Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday back in 2000 thru 2003.
when was the last time we won 10 in a row?
