Trying my best to feel confident in this game.

History with Seattle just hasn't been kind, so I feel like a beat dog just afraid of something going bad. Just irrational fear that's hard to get rid of.
I always say that our fanbase has PTSD from all those years of losing to LOB era hawks. Those days are over, but we've just seen too much weird plays, calls, bounces, etc.etc. to be completely over it.

I don't like this match up. Seattle has seen us twice, will pull out all the stops. Has any team ever beaten any other team three times in a season? It was a curse for us last year against LA. I can see some goof ball quirky last second BS messing us up.

Having said all that, we should be able to outscore them. We need to adjust

I don't have the facts on hand, but I want to say yes. A team has beaten another team 3 times in one year a few times. The Andy Reid led Eagles come to mind when they went to 4 straight NFFCG's.

So I went ahead and did 30 secs of research from a second rate site:

"Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, there have now been 23 occasions of a team meeting for the third time after one team won the first two matchups. In those 23 playoff games, including Sunday, the "sweeping" team is 14-9. And the more recent the sweep scenario has played out, the better the results have been for the team going 3-0. The first such third meeting featuring a regular-season sweep was the 1982 Miami Dolphins beating the New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game.

But including the next seven sweep scenarios through 1994, the sweeping team was 4-4, with wins and losses alternating each of those eight years. Basically, three-game sweeps were as likely to occur as not.

But from 1994 to 2021, teams having beaten an opponent twice went on to complete the three-game sweep 10 times out of 15, a winning percentage of .667."

Those numbers would have been inflated a bit more if we had held on to a 10 point lead in the 4th last year 🙄

But yes, this was extensively researched last year for the NFCC game and odds favor the sweeping team 2/3 of the time.

Seattle is an inferior team. They found a back door to get into the playoffs and it took an overtime win vs a lowly Rams team who needed to have an INT thrown by their 3rd string QB.

The only thing that brings pause to an annihilation is the heavy rain forecasted for this Saturday which can be a neutralizer for the superior team…

It might hurt them too. Rain could slow down Walker. It might make a bad team worse too. It's all about the gameplan and who comes ready to play

Right. But looking through the prism of my Niner themed sunglasses, I can recall a much better 49ers team playing an inferior Colts team on prime time last year and getting their asses kicked. Whereas the superior team tried to stick with gameplan and overmatch their inferior opponent, the Colts played which a "IDGAF" mentality and started throwing it all over the place hoping to get some plays to stick. And it worked.

if Cheaty Petey decides that this game is lost, so why not just throw up prayers toward Lenoir and Huff. Mix in a fake punt. Go for it on a couple 4th and shorts. ( all things Kyle would never do ). Then this game becomes much different in a rain laden fest…
So Niners pretty healthy.

What's the Seahawks injury report lookin like
I have the PTSD mentioned in this thread pretty bad. Anxiety through the roof. Somebody hold me

Hi just checking if it's Saturday yet, I'm nervous.
PTSD, ya thats a good description with the Seacawks since 2011... just like I had with the Packers since 1995 a la Adam Walker special, but I have recovered since then and I will when be beat these turds like a rented mule
Gonna be great to beat the Seahawks 3 times this season after only beating them 3 times since 2013

All playoff games are on national tv so it'll be on FOX in every state
I probably dislike Pete Carroll as much as anybody here, however, he has a way of keeping his team loose and playing hard against us. Right now, that is the best approach for them to take. No one gave them a chance at the beginning of the season, and people are saying the same thing now. So, they are playing with house money and that, combined with the fact they have some talent on that team - Metcalf, Lockett, Walker, a couple of decent TEs, and a secondary that has been playing very well - is the perfect way for an underdog to play. If they get behind, they keep on slugging and make it tougher.

I won't admit to PTSD but I see how they make this a closer game than I would like.
