wish has been awesome at getting the ball down inside the 20 or 10 - but his leg has sucked this season when we needed it. Idk if he's injured or what but I haven't seen boot that ball well when we are pinned in our own territory

"Opponents have registered a return on just 26.9 percent of Wishnowsky's punts this season, which ranks first among all punters in the league. This has been, in large part, a direct result of Wishnowsky's ability to pin opponents inside their own twenty-yard line repeatedly, something he has done at a higher rate than all but one punter in the NFL this season.

Fifty-one percent of Wishnowsky's punts have pinned opponents inside their own twenty-yard line, trailing only Green Bay's Pat O'Donnell, who has a slight edge while doing it at a 52 percent clip."

What more do you want from him?

Can you not read what I just said? Did you just see me say something about wish and then rush to defend him with statistics that I clearly said he was good At? Jesus Christ. Lol

To punt for greater distance when the goal isn't to pin the opponent inside the 20. I feel like I've noticed the same thing, but I don't have any meaningful statistics available to confirm it. Most of the standard punting stats aren't going to differentiate between situations, as far as I'm aware.

He doesn't have a strong leg but he's fairly accurate and does a good job of limiting returns with good hangtime.

I have noticed he can't ever "boom" a punt but I think the situation calls for that far less than pinning inside the 20.

Yeah, we typically don't need him to punt the ball too far because of our field position. But the playoffs and with unpredictable weather - it's not far fetched to think there might be a few drives early on where maybe mistakes aren't made cause the weather - then we will need a great long punt from wish.

based on what I've seen this year, he hasn't been very good at it when we are in those situations. Fortunately he's been a stud at the other stuff, but that won't matter did we end up in this situation and he has a couple of s**t punts. Which he has had games this season where he did that.
One aspect of ST's that I used to hold my breath on every play in years past that I no longer this season is punt return. Ray-Ray has been so smart in knowing when to let the punt go, when to fair catch and secures the ball with the best of them. I have no worries with Ray-Ray out there.

He's been an awesome addition to the team - so has odum (he lead the league in ST tackles). Couple that with the coach we poached from Seattle 😈.

Honestly, the only knock I've seen this year in special teams that's been consistent - is Wish's ability to flip the field if we are pinned in our own territory. He's been really good at about everything else.

I just cannot see our team coming out flat and unmotivated for this game. Brock is healthy and we will have Deebo and Mitchell this time around. Unless we get hosed by the refs, this game shouldn't be close.

If we're disciplined on offense shore up our blocks from start to finish on plays and take care of the football we should be able to get enough offensively

Defensively we need to be even more disciplined and I reiterate that we have to keep an eye on Geno because he can scramble and pick up a LOT of back breaking cheap yards offensively that keeps our defense on the field and in this weather that would be a very bad thing. We just have to pass rush with discipline

Then on ST we just want good clean play without critical errors ala Kyle Williams

For real. There's a lot of bad blood between the two. The 9ers won't give way to Freddie P. Soft with this team.
I think the nfl wants this rookie to succeed. It's a good story. Zebras will be on our side.

Agreed, their unfortunate story overshadows the Niners.
