Luckily it looks like during the game it won't be a downpour, but not sure how soaked the field will be before they start the game. I know they will tarp it, but not sure how many hours before they game they have to remove the tarp.

Hard to imagine it can get worse than the garbage we played in during the Chicago game.

Or was it that Jets game a couple of years ago where we basically lost our whole team to injuries.
Rain game means Elijah Mitchell game cause he never fumbles!

in the last 24hours the media seems to be shifting towards a Seattle upset.

Love it.

I think we all need to accept the fact that weather isn't going to be great. There's about a 75% chance of rain during the game. That could be light showers or heavy downpour. We'll just have to make do no matter what. Th Niners have played in several rain games and have practiced a lot so they'll be okay. I just hope there isn't a lot of wind. 10-15 mph is okay but if it starts gusting to 25-30 mph then that could be an issue. Ground and pound.

All of the great playoff runs under Montana took place in some games that were played in wind driven torrential downpours.

Games played in these conditions became the team's strength. 49er fans didn't just hope for rain on game day, they prayed for wind and rain whipped mud festas.

The 49ers of that era had the best dammed offensive lines that excelled in these SLOP games. Running backs like Roger Craig and Tom Rathman didn't just hit you, they PUNISHED you. Roger Craig handed out concussions like candy with his high leg kick and upright running conditions. His knees were like pistons on a high-powered, smoke belching diesel engine. Any lineman or linebacker who got whacked by those things was walking in circles by the end of the game.

You have to get out of the mindset that these weather conditions are bad for the 49ers. They're not. Deebo will do his best Deebo. Christian McCaffrey will be anything but Christian. He will be Crusade McCaffrey. Bosa will bullrush his opponent into the Bay.

These are your 49ers. They're badass. Rain is good. Mud is most excellent. Torrential downpours can obscure the pain they will inflict upon any opponent who dares to get in their way.

The 49ers were just toying with teams in the final two games. The real season starts tomorrow. Hope that Mother Nature sends her worst. Because she is our 12th Man.

We should be waiting for the lowest seed to play us next week, but the rain screwed us in week 1. Imagine if the same factor ends our season

Chicago had 5 inches of rain that day. Santa Clara is only getting one inch.

Not sure why you'd even bring that up cuz I'm pretty sure there was 0 rain in that Jets game...just s**tty turf field and really bad luck to go with it.

Let's certainly hope this team stay healthy down the stretch run and gets it done.

First of all, not all the Niner playoff games in the 80s were played in downpours and high winds. I know because I was there for every single one that was played at the Stick. We were able to tailgate without getting soaked. Most home games had decent weather. The field was often in bad shape because of poor drainage. Because it was built on landfill the field was always soft and marshy. It was a constant problem for the groundskeepers.

Bad weather doesn't help the more talented team. If anything, it takes away from the team speed and it can take away from the passing game if the winds get to high. The Niners have a good running game and a string defense so they should still be okay. I hope the bad weather doesn't keep the fans away or drive them inside to one of the clubs at the stadium. The players like t see the stands full.

Probably for betting, too.

Keep both sides of the line as even as possible.
For a lot of years, playoff games for the Niners (yes, it was at Candlestick) have never really been pristine, nice weather games. The teams has been pretty good at ignoring bad conditions. While it's a factor, the weather isn't going to suddenly make our roster worse than Seattle's.

Well, most all of the Media, ( and the world for that matter ), when they Think of Seattle, they naturally think of rain and equate those two parts to success on the football field, no logic involved their, just word association….with our LG Banks back and assuming he's at 100% physically, i for one feel better regarding our running game being able to control the line of scrimmage against the " Water Wings "

Well, I stand corrected. I can't argue against a fan AT THE GAMES. I always remember seeing the horrible field conditions and thinking the weather was "bad". I do stand by the fact that our team (and the way it's built) should still annihilate Seattle.

Ok wasn't certain about the weather since I tried to forget that game. I knew the turf was bad, but I was thinking it also had weather issue causing it. Don't expect that here though.
