I may look into closing the forums to guests viewers on game days for next season or things like the draft if this is an issue. Again, I'm not sure. This is the first I have heard of it this season, since we moved to a new heavy-duty server in September.
I'm glad you guys enjoy the forums, though. I've fought to keep them around over the past few years.
That's an interesting line. I'm not a web guy, so I do not know how the business structure works. Although, I do know there's a business structure.
When I worked in state politics and wanted something, anything, done with the website, the request (email) was sent to "the web guy." Unfortunately, from what I understand, his position no longer exists. There was an experiment some years back of allowing some offices to post their own material, but that didn't last long. I really liked our guy. I always tried to visit his office often to thank him for the work he did. I didn't understand what I was looking at when I walked into "Webmaster Control," but I know he worked his tail off to make people happy. But, in politics, that isn't always easy.
I hope you keep the forums around. I migrated over after SF Gate shut down its 49er forums. There was an interim website that people used for about a year. But it was really quirky and hard to access, so most of us former SF Gaters migrated to other sites.

I understand that there is, but I am not a member of it.

There is. I was part of it this last week and keep switching between the two gameday threads (Reddit and WEBZONE). Every time the zone crashed, I went to it. Similar type posting but less of it. I like reading the comments so it did its job but I prefer this site.

Personally I was just messing with for some good hearted fun. I find it amazing how much many of us including myself to some extent aren't capable of watching the games without the forum. Hell I see post from people at the stadiums. Boy have times changed. Thanks for giving us a place to act like we know more than the coaches, players and owners.

Again thanks for the place to gather and act like idiots.

The 49er subreddit is crap...pretty much like most of reddit.

Seahawks trolls were probably DDOSing the site while they were up at halftime. I wouldn't worry about it for the next couple of games

The Zone has been having these issues for the last couple years now when big games are happening. IMO the owner probably cut back on bandwidth to save money, so when the forum gets crowded during games the site can't handle it. It was really bad on Sunday.

The pregame thread is already 75 pages long. That means the Zone will crash heavy on game day
Is there a contingency plan in place ?
do you guys have another spot for game day commentary?
this will be awful

yeah, the troll behavior is 1000x worse over there. If you think game threads are bad here, the ones there are way worse. At least we can have discussions here albeit heated. Over there its nothing but people piling on each other, name calling and dumb meming. I prefer it here because its like the old days of the internet here, it feels more personal and like an actual community.
