The Giants game I which we dominated in every phase from start to finish, showed me that we're back so it was an important game and should give the team confidence going into this matchup. Nobody is comparing the G men to the Niners but we do give them credit as they were one of footballs most improved teams as the season progressed and they did go into Minnesota and beat a good if not overrated Vikings team that won 13 games, not an easy task regardless of what you may think of them.

Im not sure why beating a bears team by 5 pts and the colts by 1 pt makes you feel you were dominant i guess.

Imo the Cowboys were a worse matchup for the Niners than the Eagles. Even though these two teams are nearly evenly matched, I can see the Niners winning an easier game. Also, the Niners have faced worse odds in the playoffs on the road over the past several years with rosters that were not as good as the current roster.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Niners win by 2 scores.

I think more pressure on you guys. You've been knocking on the door for years but keep coming up short of bringing home the Lombardi. We're sort of the new kids here in terms of expectations from a year ago. We also have that championship from 5 years ago fresh in our minds which was a huge pressure reliever. I do think us fans feel more pressure than the players so perhaps this conversation is a moot point that means nothing.

Did the 49ers dominate every team they played? It's a long season. Consistency is hard to maintain and injuries happen. Sometimes winning the close ones is as impressive as the blowouts.

The matchup I am looking most forward to seeing is how well Slay and Bradberry fair against the #1 run blocking WR unit in the NFL. If your CB's cannot get off there blocks on those outside zones and screens, it could be a long day for them.

Your d line is the #1 d line in pass rush this season no doubt. They are no joke. But the best way to negate a pass rush is to run the ball and utilize quick passing. Something we excel at with our entire offense run blocking and our YAC Bros taking short passes for chunk yards. While you have a great coverage secondary, they lack in block shedding as well as tackling.

Where I see your offense having success against our defense is your two stud WR's and Jalen Hurts ability to kill us with his legs.

I don't see either defense shutting down the opposing offense and their should be plenty of chunk plays to go around. I see the final score being something like 27-24 or 28-27 with either coming out on top to represent the NFC in the SB.

Agree about the game being a possible track meet type of game. But what will limit the scoring will be the defenses. Both QBs are relatively mobile which really makes it hard to shut both offenses down. Eagles lead the league in sacks, but I think turnovers are going to be much more important in this game. 49ers, I think, lead the league in that department.

You don't win Superbowls if you can't beat the two teams that show up in the playoffs - the opposing team and the refs. This is going to be in Philadelphia's house, so the refs are going to be a factor in this game. So if the eagle defense has a weakness, better believe Kyle will exploit it.

Tbh, this is the true superbowl. These teams are built so complete that whoever gets out of this wins the superbowl imo

Bengals and chiefs of course have insane QBs but both have flaws that both Philly and us match up well against, plus Mahomes is a little banged up.

If defense is locked in and allow under 20 points, we win this. Eagles have a good defense for sure, but not as good as Dallas, and Purdy handled that solid all things considered.

I know your defense is really good. I would be shocked if you held us under 20 points. I think the RPO causes confusion on defense. Hurts is a master at it. But you do have the best linebackers in the game. Werner is that dude. But we can get behind your linebackers with AJ brown and Smith. Only thing Dallas has better on defense is linebackers. We don't have Micah Parsons but we have Hassan Reddick with 17 and half sacks. 5 forced fumbles. He's a game wrecker and very hard to block. Our d line is much better. Secondary is much better. Especially with CGJ back and hopefully Maddox back this week our slot corner. It's been along time since we had our secondary in full. When we had everyone in place we was leading the league in interceptions and turnovers. CGJ had 6 interceptions when he got hurt. We finally got him back. But maddox been out.

Sup Efan. All good points. Comes down to which Birds team shows up. I do feel the Eagles at their best will beat the 49ers at their best but you never know how it will play out until in plays out. One point I made previously that gives me hope; the Niners, at home with almost 2 days addl rest, scored under 20 points against Dallas. I'm highly confident the Eagles will score more than 20, so the Niners will need to do better against our sack happy defense, a tough task for sure. The 49ers are a force and the hottest team in football but I feel fairly confident that we'll pull off the win in what should be a nail biter. Are you from Philly? If so, what area? I grew up in the NE.

Good points. I'm thinking high teens to low to mid 20's. I'll be real surprised if either team breaks 30. Can go either way.

New kids? Didn't you guys just win it all several years ago with a backup QB that's not even on the map today?
Any pressure on the Niners, is on the coaching staff. I think there's no pressure on the players. Yes, there's several vets that will feel the pressure of the opportunity to get to another Super Bowl, but there's a lot of younger players that have very little pressure based on expectations, #1 being the QB.
No doubt that anything can happen and even if Philly was 1-17 with the worst record in the league, playing in Philly is one of the absolute hardest places to play (especially with no running water in your hotel ).

Philly could rout the Niners just like they have many other teams this year and it wouldn't surprise anyone.
The surprise would be if the Niners win in convincing fashion, which (imo) I think they have the ability to do.

Either way, it should be a great game.

I think 49ers lead the league in turnovers.

Turnovers > sacks in my opinion.

sacks are great, but they only serve one purpose ....get the other team's offense off the field.

Philly is 15th in the league in giving up 1st downs by the air, I think in total Philly gave up something like 30-40 more first downs then the 49ers. There will be opportunities to win Sunday just have to capitalize on them.

49ers defense has given up 2 more passing 1st downs than the eagles this season. We have given up 38 less rushing 1st downs this season though. The great equalizer could be Jalen Hurts legs.

Good to hear from you, Rascal.

Long time no see, bud!

Yeah, miss talking to you. I was away for a while, but I'm back.

As you get older, I have lost that verve to want to argue with people on anything that I disagree with on 9ers football.

Yeah, it's still fun agreeing, though.

But remembr, you only put 19 points on the Cowboys. We scored way more than that on them. If you can't stop Hurts, it's going to be a long day for the 9ers. The Linc will be rocking for sure. I can't wait. I'll be down there tailgating and watching the game at Xfinity Live. It's going to be an awesome day.

I view your 3rd win over the NYG similar to ours over SEA. DAL is a different level of competition.

You have the advantage of rest and travel. Our team is more playoff tested. Both offenses are prolific (including the DAL game - their D played great).

Also, outside of the last game, I would say we're now more of a passing team than known for our D.

Can't wait, should be fun!

Haha, well spoken! Here's to an epic football game and may the winner beat the snot out of their SB opponent.

Niners offense never got that consistent YAC against the speed of the cowboys offense. Comparisons like this don't really work though. Purdy also put up 37 on Washington. Something Hurts could not come close to in 2 games. I dont think any of this means anything on Sunday. Gonna be a battle

Analysis were talking about this and how suspect Philly is to the OZ running game.

Just gotta point that out. Who cares about common opponents and points scored. None of that s**t matters on Sunday. SF just got done playing an intense Dallas game, hard nose football. Philly got a cupcake vs NYG. We will see how it works out
I really believe that we came out with a very conservative gameplan against Dallas. 1) Dallas was coming off a short week and traveling across country after traveling from Dallas to the east coast. Dallas was completely gassed by the middle of the 3rd quarter and our defense was playing lights out. So no reason to get creative and try to run up the score. 2) we did not want to put too much on tape for the eagles to gameplan against. Especially our run game and playaction pass plays.

Anyone using the "49ers only scored 19 points against Dallas" is going to be in for a rude awakening. Especially for a defense that is 14th in stopping the run and 14th in tackling according to PFF. This offense was averaging 35 ppg before that conservative gameplan against Dallas. Be fair warned.
