I work with an Eagles fan. He grew up in Philly and moved to WV. I told him the exact thing before we left work today.

I think Cincy is the class of the AFC but winner of NFC wins it all. Depending on health outcome of the game of course.

How much have they gotten better since last year, roster wise?

Additions this year:

49ers - CMC

eagles - AJ Brown

You are forgetting the clear upgrade at QB for us. Well for them too, but their QB just got better. We got a better QB this year.

Hurts playing at an MVP level is like an addition to us. Besides him, we added AJ Brown, Haasan Reddick, James Bradberry, and Jordan Davis, CJ Gardner-Johnson, among other contributors. In the middle of the season we added Suh and Joseph both to the interior of the Dline. The fact that the Eagles have such a deep Dline allows a huge rotation and keeps all of the linemen fresh. For example, Brandon Graham is 34 years old but has 11 sacks this year while only playing (last I saw) about 40% of the defensive snaps. So there have been a number of key additions that have added alot to an already good roster. We'll just have to see if this younger coaching staff can adjust (especially on the defensive side) mid-game. In my mind that is where some struggles (and some stubornness) have cost the Eagles in the past. Like continuing to play soft coverage against Dallas in their last matchup. We didn't have Hurts that game, but the soft coverage against Lamb killed us. And they never adjusted and even after the game stuck by their decision.

lol we know that's not going to happen. Some of those smart people picked the Giants to beat us lol
I predict the Niners will defeat the Eagles for the simple fact that Niners have way more veterans on the squad (on both sides of the ball) that have been on the big stage. They all know what last year felt like, and they are coming back, WITH A VENGEANCE!

For me this is a bit of a fratricidal clash. Obviously I am a 49ers fan, and have been for over 35 years, and I want us to win, bad. But I am also a Philadelphia fan. Not the Eagles. The city. I lived there in the early 90s for a couple of years, including the 1993 Phillies almost Cinderella run to the WS title, and I have a spot for all things Philly ever since. Including the Eagles, when we are not in the picture. I was already a 9ers fan ever since I watched Montana throw to Rice in a crappy satellite broadcast in the OId Country and I was hooked. By the time I came to Britain, and then had that two year stint in the US, I was already a 9ers fan. You don't change teams. But the other sports? All Philly, especially in baseball. The Eagles? Not quite a "second team", a true fan doesn't have those in my book. But a least bad outcome, if we're out ourselves.

BTW, to tie up to an earlier discussion a few pages up about LFF being dangerous and all that. I have watched us play away there in the past, and had no issues. That may be because I know the city well, and in the stadium I was wearing 9ers colours and a Phillies cap (both red, so easy to do) and drew funny (as in "amused, odd") looks. But never felt unsafe. Indeed, I love Philadelphia fans and am proud to be an honorary member. They get a lot of misconceived and misinformed bad press (Santa and snowballs, batteries etc). The percentage of bad fans is the same everywhere, including in SF. There are tens of thousands of people in the stadium, mostly young men, many drunk, all emotional. Of course stuff will happen. You have to watch your step, wherever you are. The only safe stadia are Japanese baseball ones (and I've been in those and they are a total hoot), but that's Japan. It's different. What Philly fans have above everyone else, I think, is that they demand their own teams to measure up. They won't take crap easily, they especially resent cheap crap. Hence the booing. Obviously they don't get success all that often (which city does?) and indeed they get rather less for a city represented in all major sports (including soccer now). Hence they are especially embittered. They demand quality, they get mostly crap. So, they have this fantastic combination of gallows humour, short fuses (with their own teams) and explosive emotion when things may be going well. I know there are many cities that claim to have the loudest fans (KC, Seattle etc) but CBP during that first home playoff game against Atlanta last October looked and sounded like a volcano of pent-up emotion. You could see even from TV that the Braves players wanted no part of it. But we've been like this ourselves in the past. I travelled from Europe for the Saints playoff game, again the first in a decade, in 2011-2. That's the Smith-to-Davis pass with 14 seconds game. The whole match Candlestick was not just roaring - it was something primeval. It was a growl. I lost my voice for two days after. I like this kind of fandom, and whatever you guys think of them, Philly fans have it in spades.

Long story short. I want us to win. Bad. I will be miserable if we don't. But if we do lose (touch wood) will it be as misery inducing as losing to Dallas, the Giants, or GB, or even Seattle (which I only consider a junior rivalry, considering my age)? No way. But let's win please.

This is going to be tough and I won't be surprised if we lose but why are alot of Eagles fans using the Giants game as an example of why they are going to destroy us? We are not the Giants. The Cowboy fans did the samething after they destroyed the Bucs. The Bucs are not a good football team and neither are the Giants. The Giants had Richie James as their go to WR. Their whole offense is Barkley. The only reason they moved the ball so good in their WC game was because they were faciing a worst defense in the league. The Giants were 3-6-1 in their last 10 regular season games. It's like us using the Seahawks game as an example of why the Cowboys and Eagles don't stand a chance against us.

There is only 3 good teams in the NFC this season and we just beat 1 of them. The other two are facing off this Sunday in Philly. Now like I said the Eagles should be favored, They are at home and more fresh and if they win it won't shock me at all. But don't try comparing us to the Giants. It's insulting.

This is one of those game where Jimmy's quick release could've come in handy. If Philly has an aggressive pass rush, you either run the ball or get rid of it quick when passing which Jimmy did well. With that said I'm glad we're going into this with Brock. He gives us a much better chance to win.

Just gotta point that out. Who cares about common opponents and points scored. None of that s**t matters on Sunday. SF just got done playing an intense Dallas game, hard nose football. Philly got a cupcake vs NYG. We will see how it works out

CGJ is a dawg and was leading the league in interceptions until he got injured. When he's back our secondary at a different level. He brings the energy and and fires up the defense. Jordan Davis got hurt this year earlier in the season and we started getting ran on more. We went out and got Linval and Suh. Also added Robert Quinn

All I'm hearing all week on the "hot take" shows is how the eagles should win blah blah blah. Like SF shouldn't even get on the plane. I understand you think it's gonna be a good game (and you think Philly wins) but let's not get it twisted. Sports media is absolutely s**tting on SF this week

I picked the eagles over the giants with a -7.5 point spread. My dad thought it was a mistake. I told him that the talent gap between the two was large and that the eagles will blow them out. Cha ching. Money in my pocket.

Well CGJ was out that game and we had a rookie Josiah Scott at slot corner and he was getting roasted by Ceedee Lamb. They kept motioning him to the Slot and lining up against the mismatch when Maddox went out.

To be fair, you guys are still getting ran on. That is when the teams run it. The real difference is getting out to big leads and teams not running. No so much you stopping them.

Divisional round

NYG RBs 14 carries for 94 yards.

Week 18

Giants backup RBs 15 carries for 88 yards

Week 17

Saints RBs 18 for 84

Week 16

Dallas RBs 25 for 74

Week 15

Bears RBs 14 for 62

I took out all of the QB yards. With the exception of stopping washed up Zeke and the Cowboys running game everyone else was able to run on you when they ran.
If I actually care what the "experts" say we have absolutely no shot in the game and might as well not show up🤷🏽‍♂️

I just love to talk football. I know this game can go either way. We been to 5 nfc championship games with Mcnabb to only go to 1 SB. Nothing to be nervous about. 2 great teams going at it.

I gave up trying to predict how a game will play out a long time ago. Every time I thought it would be high scoring it ended up being low scoring and visa versa. Coaches game plan for how they expect the game to go but often need to adjust at halftime. I mean how could you expect to be behind by 20 points of more at halftime. Early turnovers, a big penalty or an injury to a key player can change everything. One of the best skills a coach can have is the ability to adjust rapidly before a game gets out of hand.
Stats give you some idea how good a team is but it still comes down to who makes, or who gets forced into the most mistakes. They play the game to find out , that's why we watch. As they say everybody has a plan until........ah hell you know how it goes. Go 49ers!!!!
