So... WHY the disrespect?

Roger Goodell definitely does NOT want to see that "Big Brock co** " sign on national TV during the Superbowl.

I'm not whining... just a genuine question. I grew up in the Bay Area (Santa Rosa) but I live in the UK now... It's interesting to see the difference in media coverage because over here (Sky Sports) they fawn over the Niners... Granted the NIners do have the UK as an official market.

The national media is all on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. They think they are Super Bowl contenders every year. Especially Skip Bayless who used to cove them I believe and was from that Dallas area. He's a huge Cowboys fan.

The Cowboys are basically the Yankees/Lakers of football, they'll always get significantly more coverage than the average team. Even during the Campo days, the media wouldn't STFU about them, its just the way it is.

Ah… best guess is that just about everyone with a long-term interest in football and not a cowboys fan has found some (good) reason to despise the Cowboys and Jerry Jones over the years. Here in the U.S. you can merely be football-adjacent and pick up the vibe. Maybe the U.K. lacks a critical mass of long-term fans and piling on Cowboy hate doesn't come as naturally.

also they are soccer fans so can't be expected to understand anything about football… actual football not that game kids can play when they are three

A sI said, I am a lifelong Niner fan.. Grew up in the bay... My old man took me to Candlestick back when we had Jim Plunkett at QB so my fandom runs DEEP...

Also, don't underestimate British NFL fans... the game is becoming VERY popular here and British fans tend to be really knowledgable. I reckon if Shad Khan decided to relocate the Jags, the'd sell out for DECADES.
Dak basically blew the game by himself.

Niners need to play better in order to have a chance against Philly. I don't see Hurts blowing the game.

Need better pass pro and running lanes. And the d-line needs to play better and sack the QB.

It's not about being right, it's about what interests the audience. Talking about DAL failing is more fun to listen to for the neutral football fan than the 49ers being good. Give it a day and DAL will be an afterthought, until March rolls around.

Bingo!

That's usually how close games between evenly matched teams go. The one that blinks and makes the most mistakes loses.

Aside from the soccer quip I wasn't attacking your fandom or that of the natives. Just might not be enough history there. U.S. media talking about Dallas and fans hating on them can't really be understood from reading articles or watching videos. It is more visceral than cerebral (and for Dallas fans it is truly brain dead).

Thanks for being a missionary in a backwards land (referencing of course the flow of traffic)
Even on the Cowboys bye week they get the most coverage. Win, loss, or tie the sky is falling or the sky has no limit. I record some of the sports shows so I can fast forward to something interesting. I think some of these shows play the same part twice. I bet Maher got more coverage in the last week on ESPN than the 49ers. Aikman , Romo, and Daryl Johnston are ex Cowboys and current announcers. It's hard to get away from the Cowboy's Soap Opera.

When Ralph Barbieri hung up on Skip Bayless for over complaining in the early 90's is was awesome.

Part of it is East coast bias. There are twice as many people east of the Mississippi and far more newspapers and talk shows. On top of that we have the Americas Team stuff. For some reason Dallas has been called that for years. Maybe their games are seen by more people because of hwere they're located. They usually sell the most merchandise.

All those things are why Dallas losing is a bigger story to them than SF winning.
I'm paraphrasing here, but the bald dude on Out-Kicked said the national media story should be Brock Purdy.
There is no disrespect. We have a 3rd string rookie at QB and essentially the have the same odds as the best 3 QBs in the league.

A couple of TD's by Dak and not those turnovers inside the 30 it's a different game. Dak did blow this game but the 49ers defense was the reason for that. It's complicated. Bring on the Eagles.
it's the curse of being a west coast team
