So it sounds like you don't think we will run a spy on Hurts, and instead try and take away AJ Brown, plus their run game. Certainly doable, but is a tall order. I just remember those Hurts runs up the middle, several called plays, most just with WRs covered. Against the NYG, that was 9 runs ,and a bunch of those were 3rd downs that got converted into first downs.

I sincerely hope you are right and we do stop their runs…stopping AJ Brown…that would be great but is a big load.

Exactly!!!! Light his ass up when he's upright then he'll think twice about running.

That reminds me of my youth football coaching days. I'd tell my DL if they got knocked down to the ground to turn into "ankle biters." Don't ever just lay there, keep fighting, even if all you can do is bite ankles.

Our corners are a lot better tacklers this season. I was just looking at Hurts' rushing stats. Hurts is on the low end of the running QB's in yards after contact per attempt. He is averaging 44 yards per game on the ground and is most dangerous in the redzone. A.J. Brown is averaging 88 yards per game and has 11 receiving TD's during the regular season. Devonte Smith is almost as dangerous averaging 70 yards per game and had 7 receiving TD's in the regular season. I would rather Hurts run around missing reads than to allow him to sit in the pocket and pick us apart because we are afraid he might gain a couple 1st downs between the 20's with his legs.
If he keeps running and disregards the pass we have him. Warner and Greenlaw can fly and they can bring the wood. This game will show the 49ers' experience in the big game. If the Niners run game takes off it will be short work.

It wasn't extraordinarily effective in the first half. But those two final second half drives, one of which resulted in a TD and the second of which added another field goal, were things of absolute beauty.

Bottom line? Jalen will get his chances. He will get his yards. The hope is he won't get enough of them.

Agree 💯%, this is going to be a track meet type of game. He who scores last may well win the game. You can only slow the eagle offense, you can't stop it. Same with Kyle's offense. This is a game where Brock will have to make some great third down throws.

This is a game I'm not too confident in, as a 49er fan.☹ to tell you the truth.

I couldn't agree more. Bring the WOOD and eagles crumple in the second half like every one else.
Hit his ass. Hit him hard! Mash the truck stick and make him give in!
He will be playing with a shoulder injury . I don't think he's going to be as "unstoppable" as many believe . We ain't the mediocre Giants
If you have it available, watch the ARI game from week 5. ARI held the eagles offense to 20 points. The eagles won because of missed FG by ARI with 22 seconds left in the game. They were sending blitzes on obvious passing situtaions in order to flush Hurts out of the pocket. His two rushing TD's in that game were QB sneaks. Our best chance at winning this game is holding the eagles to at most 20 points and keeping their receivers out of the endzone.

I just don't get either of these posts. He had a great year, but he wasn't some unstoppable menace who scored every series.

There will be opportunities, just like against Dallas. We have to capitalize. Maintain discipline in the pass rush, LBs play downhill. Force him to throw over the middle and stop dropping interceptions.
When the DTs get pulled/blocked out of the middle running lanes they need to be ready to crash back inside to get Hurts if he runs up the middle.
DE's can't let the edge go, they also need to be able to get outside to stop him or at least pushed toward the sideline where a DB can clean it up
The key will be to rush as a unit and cage Hurts within the pocket. This means: 1) Staying within rush lanes 2) Not rushing past QB drop 3) Playing selfless.

There's always someone responsible for taking the A gaps and filling any vacated rush lanes on every pass rush snap. That person is going to have to make sure they do their job, avoid getting greedy and creating an escape lane for Hurts.
