He's the QB of the DL
You rush 4 but you have one not engage into his man and play spy close to the line. Effectively only rushing 3 but the spy is near the line.

Otherwise you run some mlb blitz's sometimes and other times have Warner be the spy.

I think you might get him on some nickel blitz also.

You have to mix it up and whoever you bring in blitz has to stay disciplined. Warner got to excited last game and lost contain on one of his blitz's on dak. He will need to be disciplined this game.

Aother way is to be discipline on the pass rush. You rush 4 but not give him any lanes and force him to throw in the pocket.
Hurts Ran the ball at less then 5 yards a clip and fumbled a Ton.....

Hurts running is probably a WIN for the defense as it is, that means you got his eyes on the pass rush. That is a win-win for the 49ers.

I think the team plays ALOT of zone this game, and we see more of the zone blitz stuff we saw at the end of the season. Guys in zone looking back at the QB make it harder for him to get loose.

Exactly. Hurts is not as good of a runner as some on here think. His legs are most dangerous in the redzone. Well timed blitzes to move him off his spot and keep him from setting his feet. Coverage will be the biggest key in this game for our defense.

Simple as that…
We may need to ditch the tampa 2 this game. We typically play deep zones with our LBs to force the checkdown (then we swarm). If we play deep zones in the middle of the field this game Hurts can just step up in the pocket and take off. As some have mentioned maintaining our rush lanes will be big on limiting QB rush yards none the less.
I say let him run. The more he runs, the less AJ Brown and Devonte Smith will be involved. Plus if he tries to take on our LB's and S's head on like he has done with other teams like the giants, he will regret it.
the main thing is to STOP the RPO attached and i think they way you do that is you do a lot of stunts were you the DE crashes the middle were he accounts for the running back and one of the bakers takes hes side if the QB decides to run or holds that side of the field

Yup you got to hit Hurts on those read options. Don't care if he's running or not, get to the mesh point and rock him. Let Sanders beat this team.

keep Hurts in the pocket and a passer and we will win this game imo. 3rd downs are gonna be madness though. Can't play man with him scrambling, our DBs gotta nut up and be physical at the LOS.

I think they should let Hurts keep and let him go against the LBs. I don't think Kinlaw and Givens can hold up inside so I would put the stress onto the LBs to contain Hurts on the edges as a runner.
