If you are the true #1 D you always have a shot. It was a close game still when he went down. They repeatedly could not get off the field on 3rd down. And then when they did stop em on 3rd they gave it to them on 4th. Anything after mid 3rd Qtr doesnt really matter too much. But D had many ups and downs till that point

The refs were responsible for 7 of their first downs which is crazy

Yep the refs made bonehead plays. Were some ticky tack? Sure, but were they outrageous? Nope. You play undisciplined you are at risk to get called. Put your hand in the cookie jar you might get caught.

The complaints aren't necessarily the calls are made, it's that the identical calls are ignored for the other team.

Eh, I didnt see the Eagles shoving guys that were two steps out of bounds, Grabbing receivers in the middle of their route, acting like they are Rocky after the whistle blows.

Yes they did.

The blame goes to both Shanahan and Lynch for going into a title game with Josh Johnson as your back up
And no third option. Sorry. We basically went into the game with one QB.

The injuries to Elijah Mitchell, the domestic distraction, and other things. The penalties, the unraveling of the team...bad week overall.

We basically had one guy running the ball today...no Mason, no Davis-price, no coleman.

Well when Purdy went down, I think the whole game plan went to s**t.

On offense i totally get that. Dont know what it was with the D today. All the little ticky tack fouls and just lack of composer. Going to be an interesting offseason for this D.

I think when Purdy went down, they knew they had no shot. They just tried their best and got frustrated and didn't give a s**t anymore when they were down 2 scores.

The D got plenty of stops in the 1st half. They got the ball back to the 49ers offense three times at 7-0 including once with great field position after that punt that hit the wire. The 49ers offense proceeded to do get 1st down, false start, sack, just completely s**t the bed (as expected with the 4th QB I guess). Then at 7-7 they kept getting called for ticky tack BS to keep the Eagles drive alive leading to 7. Then Josh Johnson fumbles a snap in front of his face and gifts red zone field position to the Eagles.

The D was not the problem today. It got out of hand once it was clear the offense wasn't doing s**t aside from CMC.

Agreed. Even the best defense eventually needs the offense to back them up, and it just wasn't happening with Johnson at QB. So the levee finally broke with that fumbled snap.

You know if Kyle threw that flag on that long Eagles pass play Purdy might not of been injured and we have the possibility of winning this game…

Another thing that needs to be changed. How these challenges are managed. If they don't have one guy watching every single big play, they need one. And they actually need TWO. At least two. Two people whose LITERAL ONLY JOB is to watch for replays.

I still don't get it. What was the worse thing that could've happened if he challenged?

Gotta think of it in context of the whole. There are plenty of times all year defenders say "he didn't catch it, throw the flag", and if Shanahan does he loses challenges all year because defenders ALWAYS say that.

So he can't go off of his players. He needs to go pff off he system he has in place, which are guys upstairs telling him to challenge or not. Those guys are looking at replays. There was no replay before the next snap that showed it clearly.

So, should Shanahan just implement a policy going forward that he automatically challenges all iffy 4th down completions with nothing to go on except his players (who often are wrong about what happened) and the opponent hurrying? Okay, then one should expect a lot of missed challenges and lost timeouts going forward.

The views the team has are different than you and I on TV. They had more information and didn't pull the trigger.

In that situation you challenge. Crazy to think that changes the whole game
JIMMY!!! REFS!!! KYLE!!.

It sucks that we lost and Brock got hurt. Sure hope it isn't serious. At the end of the day the Eagles were just better than we were. That's the way it goes sometimes. Better luck next year. Go Niners!

Call it both ways and it's reasonable. Call it one way and it's not... It was not called both ways. Just another reason why the NFL is constantly a refereeing joke.

They wanted to get out of the stadium alive

On the UK broadcast that we get here in Ireland one of the analysts said jokingly they have a courtroom under the stadium
Was he just joking or do they?

Calling a holding on Ward on third then a few plays later missing a blatant hold for the td is what gets me.

roughing the kicker when blocked into him

facemask when head barely turned and AA held on the same play

why no roughing the QB when Johnson was hurt

No late hit against CMC

Not one offensive holding on them

Don't forget Lane Johnson being aloud to start early

yes

on every f**king play

That true. Just one of the reasons why Philly is such a piece of s**t.

Talk about an oversimplification.

I would like to see it if they were not able to have a QB healthy enough to throw.

All these conditions and it was 7-7 late in the first half

At their old stadium, yes.

Missed the Smith ball on the ground

Did you really say " head barely turned" Did he grab the face mask? Did it move his head. Doesnt matter its a facemask. While minor it should be called.
I just realized that I didn't notice Omenhuia. Did he actually play today?

Their D-line easily got to Brock and f**ked him up. That's the result of the Dline and blitzers being better than our crappy oline and blocking strategy.

Bay Area Sports post game crew same comments. This is a visual world. Seeing Jimmy laughing on the sidelines while the rest of the team getting hit and doing their best to keep us in the game. It irritated me big time. I hope the team gets a Twitter replay of him. Say what you will, I'm glad it's over with Jimmy.

Glad to see the Bay Area crew says same.

Oh f**kin stop, talk about reaching just to blame something on Jimmy.

I saw the 2 screenshots of jimmy laughing. What a loser. Team was battling and he was disengaged and joking. Nothing to smile about down 21-7 and then 28-7

That made me sick 🤢

Yup, good point. How would it have been had Hurts gotten that same injury right about when Purdy did. We had a QB who couldn't throw because of an injury and a backup who can't play football. So who really knows who was the better team. The result of that game certainly doesn't tell us.
