I didn't like seeing JG sitting on the sideline smiling while the team was getting pummeled. I wonder what he was saying to that other player. Probably that he was glad he wasn't out there.

I didn't like it either, but here's the truth: Jimmy has nothing going on upstairs. Love the guy, and he's a good football player. But he's a meathead. There was nothing behind that simple except the brain of a simpleton lol.

(I'm kidding…sort of)

I see a lot of people complaining about Kyle not challenging that catch. Well he didn't see the view that showed the ball on the ground. The Eagles rushed to the line and got the play off before the guys in the booth could review it. Here's a thought. Why doesn't the league automatically review plays like that in the playoffs. They review everything else. If that had been aTD catch it would have been reviewed and probably overturned.

1) I completely disagree with your roughing the punter analysis. Mason beat his man, and then was held. That should have been called. Then after the lineman released the hold, he was pushed into the punter. We got screwed twice on that same play and was a huge change in the game.

2) The way Smith got up after he "caught" the ball encouraging his team to hurry up and spike it should have been enough of a tell for Shanahan to challenge. Receivers don't do that if they know they caught the ball. This was my biggest criticism of Shanahan on the day. Him not seeing the replay that showed the ball on the ground shouldn't be an excuse. It was a massive play and should have been challenged as soon as Smith got up off the ground.

Same old Kyle. Almost 7 years in the league as head coach, still doesn't know the basics on clock management, time outs, when to go on 4th downs….

here's an obvious summary in a nutshell…

1) squib kick vs Seattle
2) run the clock down to nothing vs Dallas bf the half
3) no challenge on what could have been a game changing play.

does any other coach make that many blunders in the same postseason no less ? I'm sure we could add a lot more to the list…

Maybe Kyle should watch it at home like us

I disagree with this part. Every receiver thinks that they catch every ball. If we threw the challenge flag based on how the WR reacts, then they would start playing us on real catches to force a review knowing it would not be overturned.

Yea but that's not how it is now. It was clear D Smith knew he didn't catch it. Should've been the tell to throw the flag.

Unhhh…it not only got hyperextended , it also got diagonally "bent' and THAT was probably a major part of the injury. Ligaments, nerves, connective tissue all around that joint got torn, stretched, injured. Immediately when that hack by Ridddick took Brock's forearm in a direction it was never meant to go, i knew the game was over.

TWO things:

the genius of trying to block Riddick (he was lined up way wide of McG) with a TE, (and one not named Kittle) was a major faux pas….ok, screwup.

2nd thing: that hit/hack job by Riddick was reminiscent of the helmet to helmet out of bounds against JimmyG, by the Chiefs in SB. He was concussed after that tho he played anyway…missed guys wide open in EZ….but the guy was concussed…i always wondered if Andy Reid had given his guys the instructions before game to get rid of 9ers QB…or not. Andy wanted that SB worse than anything else in the world.

Likewise, I wonder if Siriani's game plan was to hit Brock early and often and get him out of game…he knew Josh J was no pro QB. Was that part of their game plan?

I didn't see it until they showed it after the score. When it happened live I thought it was a catch. Kyle has a lot of stuff going on in that headset and the view from the sidelines isn't the greatest. He saw the replay on the scoreboard and decided it was a catch. The spotters in the booth didn't say throw the flag. The announcers thought it was a catch.

Hufanga should have protested louder and got the sideline to throw the flag. In the end I think the Eagles just got back to the line too quickly. One other thought. Even though it looked obvious on that one view that it wasn't a catch, there's no guarantee that NY would have agreed. I've seen them miss calls before. If theymhad reviewed it and then ruled it a catch then we would have a legitimate gripe.

You may be right about that roughing call but once again it depends on the view that the official had. We always assume that just because we see it from the camera view from above that the official is in position to see what we see. It's easy to get your view blocked when you've got a bunch of big players running around.

Just accept the fact that it wasn't our day. There's no way we were going to win once Brock went down, penalties or no penalties. The Eagles D is just too good to get beaten by a 4th string mid season pick up.

Yeah I'm not hearing any same old Kyle comments. Not today. Anyone blaming him for yesterday is advertising a lack of knowledge and logic.

Jimmy and Lance played the role of 2 evil stepsisters watching the clock strike midnight.

Now that some hours have passed and the sadness has stopped. I'm incredibly happy with how this season went. Made it to the top 4 with a 3rd strong rookie QB. Magnitude of injuries on the team all year with key players out. There isn't another team in the league that could do that. I'm proud of the dudes even KS lol. I hope we keep this window open. They really need to rework this OL. I pray MM isn't back. Ryan's is going to be a huge loss especially with Fang out now. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

Also yeah I really HATE the Eagles. The way they were acting all tough and arrogant and celebrating tackle after tackle when everyone in the world literally knew we were running every play. That rubbed me the wrong way. The coach is a douchebag. The city sucks and their fans are worse than Seattle.

I hope KC and Mahomes absolutely destroys them. I know KC took a SB from us but honestly they play football right. They don't play dirty, don't act tough like Phili and Reid is a good dude to root for.

Also yeah I was completely wrong. Philly is not some scary juggernaut. They were very unimpressive today. Especially hurts.

We all get the last laugh. Philly fans (most of them anyway) HAVE to live in Philly. What could be worse than that?

Here are my takeaways from this game/season:

Philly is uber strong in the trenches...and it paid off handsomely this season. They have enough skill players to score on anyone. Their depth is remarkable.

Niners need to address the OL from the C to RT. First of all, if Rakelj is the C of the future, this off-season would be the time to groom him. Brendel's not bad, but he's not good enough to take on the interior DL's for many opponents. Burford got some very good experience this season...so it's reasonable to expect him to be better in his 2nd year. They need to let McGlinchey walk...he's good in the run game, but after 5 seasons still a liability in pass pro. Sign a good FA or draft a better RT who can protect his QB.

The team needs to either re-sign Jimmy G or find a much better b/u for Purdy. Today showed why.

Shanahan needs to stop losing to lesser teams early in the season...no reason to lose to the Bears and Falcons. Win those 2 games and we're hosting the NFC Championship.

Mooney Ward had a heckuva game today...Moseley's back next season, so that'll help. Lenoir steadily improved this year...now I know why Sherman liked him so much. Would like to see considerably more of Womack next year. That may well happen, as Jimmie Ward's a FA and I don't see the Niners dishing out big money on him. Would like to see them sign a good FA CB and/or draft one.

The DL's still in good shape...although I'm really wondering if Kinlaw will ever truly pan out. Lots of injuries so far. Kalia Davis could bolster the DT position...if he's healthy. They need a very good player next to Armstead full-time. Want to see a lot more of Drake Jackson next year. He and Bosa should form a dandy pass rushing duo.

LB corps is very good to excellent...but, Greenlaw needs to stop committing dumb penalties.

Upgrade the TE position...after Kittle, there's not much. Woerner's a good blocker (brings me to question why Coach had Kroft trying to block Reddick vice Woerner or Kittle).

McCaffrey's all-world...he and Mitchell form quite a duo. Trouble is, Elijah just can't seem to stay healthy. Mason looked good when he got opportunities, hopefully he'll get considerably more next season. Davis-Price didn't get many chances...saw some improvement, but not enough to get excited about.

Sounding like Ryans will become Houston's new HC...if not there, he'll get hired by some team. Who'll be the new DC? I like both Holland and Kocurek.

Nice post Corva.
To be honest, I quit watchin at halftime. Not that I didn't have faith, it's cause I knew it was over. No way to "stop the bleeding". I just didn't wanna watch anymore. No adjustment could really be made to fix it. Warner, Purdy, Bosa hurt. Johnson was looking shook out there. And why wouldn't he be I guess. Then I heard Purdy lost feeling in his hand. I couldn't watch anymore. Everything was crumbling. I guess it got even worse after the half. Not sure who they would have put back in instead of Purdy..wildcat which means, Idk..who would be next in line after Purdy? I could not have dreamed of a worse loss. Just total bum deal.
