I'm the same age so similar experience of falling short often.

I pretty much said to my Wife yesterday that I was giving up on sports. I follow 3 sports teams across different sports and over the last 4-5 years I've seen those 3 teams come very close to winning 10 trophies but ultimately fall at the penultimate or final hurdle.

It's hugely frustrating but if you want to win big in sports, you need to be willing to lose big too.

Listening to the 49er fan shows, people are so distraught that they say stupid stuff. I've heard some of the dumbest takes over the past few hours and I chalk it up to grief.

This team is just terribly unlucky. Either God hates the 49ers or Eddie D pissed off some Bayou Riverboat casino owner who also dabbles in voodoo, and he cursed the team.

If Purdy doesn't get injured, we win this game handily. We shut Hurts down. Seriously. Who loses three QBs to serious injuries in one season, much less consecutive ones? Who loses two during one game? This is evil stuff. Calling it bad luck almost feels like downplaying it.

I lol'd at the 'casino owner who also dabbles in voodoo' but at this point, you may be right. I'm 32, I was 4 when we won our last. Had almost no comprehension for what we had just accomplished, as most 4 year olds wouldn't. I look at it like those 5 super bowls are my mom and dads, they lived'em, experienced'em, enjoyed'em. I just want one. One Lombardi. The "quest for six" has for me personally been a quest for just one. That quest goes on for a 29th year.

one silver lining, we finally found our QB. Praying for him today because if he needs Tommy John… we might be screwed.

I just hate that we make it into the playoffs each year (which is awesome) but always come up short because of something. It's a long season and you get your hopes up thinking this is the year then an injury to a key guy happens, a flag for a dumb call comes, or bad play call you name it. Then you have to wait 7 months to go through the same thing which isn't always a gaurantee.

None the less it was a good season and we got to see what Brock could do but also told us we definitely need to have experience in our backup QBs.

This would just be an excuse to play Trey now.

It's better than 25 other team's fans who go into the season knowing they have no shot unless a miracle happens.
Nothing bad. We had a great season!

If you think about it, we had a miracle happen for us to...Brock. If he didn't play the way he did through that winning streak, we wouldn't have been in the playoffs. We might need another miracle next season to especially if Brock needs TJ surgery on that elbow. Is that miracle Trey playing lights out like Purdy did or is it getting Rogers or Brady. Who knows.

At least you don't get blue balls. We are known as f**king chokers thanks to Kyle.

Id rather start fresh. I enjoy watching a team being built more than watching a good team lose when it shouldn't.

The one thing I hate most is fans content with losing.

It wasn't a great season. Stop being ok with this. This organization used to win superbowls. Jed hired Kyle to win superbowls. And he's failed.

It's up to us to make sure we compete for and win Super Bowls," York said. "That's our only goal. We don't raise division championship banners, we don't raise NFC Championship banners. We raise Super Bowl banners. And whenever we don't deliver that, I hope that you will hold me directly responsible and accountable for it. And we look forward to getting this thing back on track."

Once Purdy went down the team seemed to give up. Not the stuff of champions. Put it down to playing on borrowed time and the clock was mismanaged.

They really did. Sure it may have been a little bit of a shootout, but with a healthy QB I think Shanahan would've found a way to get the win.

Such a pisser. The same ppl said this last year, now rinse and repeat. I assume they're fair weather fans that watch the game(s) in passing while flipping the channels between Fox and Discovery.

I can't imagine anyone calling this a successful season given that we went through the same exact thing last year and are 3 years removed from a SB loss that we should have won.

it's a lame take 🥱

Personally the dark years in the 00s were easier to swallow than this. At least back then the thought was we were trying to build something. Now what ? You have a team loaded with talent, top defense. Still can't get it done.

has to be coaching. Just has to be…
