Who will be the next 49ers Defensive Coordinator?

No. Older Chris Harris, was a safety with the Bears, Carolina and a few other teams.

This may be blasphemous in here, but who exactly has Kocurek developed? Bosa doesn't count imo because it was a given he would be a success in the NFL. Solomon Thomas - fail. Javon Kinlaw - fail. Ebukam was believed to have untapped potential but he's been more of the same like he was in LA, a solid starter who doesn't get more then 4 sacks a year. Only one that comes to mind is Arden Key. Although he is a rookie, you would have liked to see Drake Jackson get more and more playing time as the season went on but instead he was inactive during the playoffs. Starting to think we kind of overrate this guy in here.

He got the most out of Kerry Hyder, some journeyman that ended up with 8+ sacks and got a multiyear. He got the most out of Arden Key after he was looking busty. DJ Jones developed well as a day3 pick. He is failing with Kinlaw after pounding the table for him, although Kinlaw's injuries won't allow him to practice so there's that. Ebukam was looking improved towards the end of 2021, then for some reason regressed in 2022. Not fair to put Solomon's failure on Kocurek.

Armstead might be Kocurek's best work

Is Fangio a real possibility? I don't care who we get I guess but I just don't want our defense to skip a beat next season. I mean if our offense is as good next year or better, we should be fine.

Yea. He's experienced. Been there done that. I trust our defense in his hands. Everyone else is a crap shoot…

Welcome back lord Fangio. He gets the most out of his players. Reminds me of Kocurek for the entire defense.
IDK…we have had good luck promoting from within, last two DCs, and both did well. Yes, Saleh had to learn as he went, but still did a good job. I have really come to like the wide 9s and if Fangio returned, that would probably end. Just hope we get another Demeco type. Played , then coached D. That's a good resume.

I believe he started on that Bears SB team that lost to Peyton Manning and the Colts. You know you're getting old, when you remember when current coaches played.

Before Saleh left, there was a lot of talk about Demeco taking over. This time around, there wasn't much talk of an in house hire. This leads me to think this is gonna be an outside hire this time.

Why are people so obsessed about what formations we use? If the defense works and stops people, who freaking cares?
Fangios defense is the hardest defense for a QB to read pre snap. Forces the QB to make post snap reads thus having to holding the ball longer giving the D-line more time to get to the QB. He is considered the most influential defensive mind and scheme in the NFL. He also builds his defense around his players. He has run 4-3, 3-4 and variations of both. He would taylor it to our personnel.
