Wilks???...Nice guy but Shanahan BETTER have Fangio on speed dial. 😉

Pass on Wilks.

I wonder if these other interviews are just to show the league of other candidates but Fangio is the unofficial hire 😁
I've thought Fangio was plan A since the brought him in as an observer prior to last season.

Fangios defense is the hardest defense for a QB to read pre snap. Forces the QB to make post snap reads thus having to holding the ball longer giving the D-line more time to get to the QB. He is considered the most influential defensive mind and scheme in the NFL. He also builds his defense around his players. He has run 4-3, 3-4 and variations of both. He would taylor it to our personnel.

Kyle would feel totally free with Fangio plus he'd be an excellent sounding board and mentor for Kyle.

And Fangio lives here on the Peninsula, so he gets to stay near his family.

Wow.

Fangio.
Brady.
Eman.

this team will be scary good next year.
Dolphins fans whining saying the Niners should be under investigation if they sign Fangio and the Niners should lose draft picks to the Dolphins lol. Something about tampering and the rooney rule. Stuff like that. Any merit to that claim or just sour grapes?

They don't have a case for tampering.

Sour grapes. Its entirely possible that the Dolphins jumped the gun and leaked that they had a deal in place with Fangio when they didn't, especially since he was quick to refute it through a couple other reporters. Now they're saying that the 49ers, the team that has continually pushed minority coaches and executives, are attempting to do an end run around the Rooney requirements by conducting sham interviews with Wilks and Harris. They can have Fango as a favorite and still conduct good-faith interviews with Wilks and Harris, giving them every opportunity to wow the team's decision makers.

As long as Kyle wasn't sitting in the interview room drawing doodles and playing Angry Birds on his phone, they'll be fine.
Failed post.

This may be blasphemous in here, but who exactly has Kocurek developed? Bosa doesn't count imo because it was a given he would be a success in the NFL. Solomon Thomas - fail. Javon Kinlaw - fail. Ebukam was believed to have untapped potential but he's been more of the same like he was in LA, a solid starter who doesn't get more then 4 sacks a year. Only one that comes to mind is Arden Key. Although he is a rookie, you would have liked to see Drake Jackson get more and more playing time as the season went on but instead he was inactive during the playoffs. Starting to think we kind of overrate this guy in here.

He got the most out of Kerry Hyder, some journeyman that ended up with 8+ sacks and got a multiyear. He got the most out of Arden Key after he was looking busty. DJ Jones developed well as a day3 pick. He is failing with Kinlaw after pounding the table for him, although Kinlaw's injuries won't allow him to practice so there's that. Ebukam was looking improved towards the end of 2021, then for some reason regressed in 2022. Not fair to put Solomon's failure on Kocurek.
I forgot about DJ Jones. He did develop him nicely. Don't get me wrong, I like Kocurek and think he is a very good coach. But a lot of people are acting like the sky is falling if he were to leave. I have faith that Shanahan would find a good replacement for him if he bounced.

Maybe Tomsula would work for Fangio again
The defense will take a step back without Demeco who did more then just call plays for them. He was one of the guys like he still played on the field with them. It would be nice to hire a DC that maintained that kind of vibe but that guy probably isn't available. We will miss that.
