Who will be the next 49ers Defensive Coordinator?

Fangio would be good for finally keeping a DC for a while. He probably learned that being a HC isn't for him.

They don't have a case for tampering.
is there a rooney rule for coordinators ?

Fangio has run a 3-4 wherever he's been.... it would require a complete retooling of our defensive line personnel to shift back and given its a strength I'm hoping Fangio ends up in Miami.

Well, considering that majority of our DL are going to be free agents, I think now is a good time to do it if they're serious about Fangio. Ebukam, Hyder, Ridgeway, Omenihu, Willis and Givens are all free agents.

AA, Kinlaw and Drake Jackson all played in 3-4s in college. The only person I'm really concerned about is Bosa. Outside of being asked to drop in coverage from time to time, I think the stance change on certain downs could impact his game, but I've seen what his brother has done in this scheme. Nick Bosa should be okay.

Among the guys already on the staff, Holland would be good, Undlin's already getting interest from the Texans...for their DC. The "outsider" I like is Wilks. Couldn't help but notice after he was made interim HC the Panthers seemed to be in a higher gear. Having that experience and his year as HC in 'Zona would seem to bode well for him. He's a tough guy, and may well bring more toughness/stoutness to our defense. Good as they were, there were some lapses. Anyway, he's the guy I feel's best suited for our DC.

I'm open to Wilks being the hire. I believe his roots trace back to Lovie Smith/Monte Kiffin. Some of our scheme does as well. I am confident we could blend what we do with some of he's done going forward.

Not sure if this is correct. I read that he can run a 4-3 and won't mess with Bosa.
49ers ask permission to interview Wilks? That's good move but Is Vic gonna also interview?

Fangio will run whatever Kyle wants him to run.
Is Lovie Smith a viable option?

Fangio being out more than a year now, has the game gone passed him? If he is our DC, I hope not.

Yeah, at least we don't have to worry about Fangio leaving, he's probably just content being a DC, now.
