Just missed this text & checked my phone:

I'm told the #49ers are planning not only to talk to Steve Wilks (as @MikeGarafolo reported), but also in discussions to interview #Commanders defensive backs coach Chris Harris & of course Vic Fangio, per league source.

Harris was on Lynn's staff with the Chargers.

Maybe we are going to hire outside the organization this time. It wouldn't surprise me if the talk to Bullocks as well, but if he doesn't get the job he'll probably go with DeMeco.

The #49ers requested permission to speak to Steve Wilks for their defensive coordinator position, source says. He's still under contract with the #Panthers.

49ers have requested to interview Chris Harris for their defensive coordinator spot. Harris recently joined the Titans as their PGC following a stint coaching the Commanders' DBs.

Would seem odd if they are #1 D in football and look outside the bldg. Not like you couldn't see Ryans moving on coming from a mile away. Next man up.

As for Vic Fangio, he's had offers from Atlanta, Carolina & Miami, and as stated in a prior tweet is expected to talk with the #49ers--especially given his ties there, per league source.
