What do we do now at QB?

Pretty sure Marathe could get even more creative than that. The money is not an issue, you're not signing Brady for a long term stint. Give him a year to try and make a run at a SB and then turn the team over to Purdy and Lance and let the best QB come out on top.
And who might that be?

Prefer a 15 mil one that plays awful?

Or Brady turns into a pumpkin finally with Father Time catching up. The most likely scenario.

The core of this team has a window of 5 years easy. Really only will have to replace Trent.

if we are doing everything we can to go get ring 6 then go get Lamar Jackson.

Like I've said before in this thread, you can bet on the QB who has played four games in four years and at no point was what you might consider a particularly fluid or impressive passer, I'll bet on Brady being able to fight off old age for at least one more season, especially with all the people talking about how he's done, finished and what not.

I think he wants to finish his career out on a high note and that there will be mutual interest between him and the 49ers. Enough to get a deal done? Remains to be seen.

So, sacrifice 2023. Got it.

I was willing to do that in 2022. Now with McCaffrey and Williams a year older, and Bosa getting a huge contract I am against that. I'd rather kick the Lance/Purdy can down the road an extra year. They'll both still be under 25 in 2024.

When you have picks and money you kee finding and drafting talent. I have faith we can because I am old enough to remember where our roster was before John and Kyle got here. They together used their picks and money wisely to build this top two roster and I trust them to do it year after year over and over again

Lance and/or Purdy will still be here in 2024. If either is the QB one expects them to be if healthy in 2023 then they'll likely still be that in 2024.

Not For Long is the motto. Gotta take the shot. There will be other shots in the years after. Especially if they win #6 with Brady. That'll get the monkey off Shanahan's back and provide breathing room while they manage a roster with a young QB, with Williams heading towards retirement, having to replace some vets with young guys, etc.

Saying it's unlikely he becomes a top QB in the league and that there's next to no evidence to support the hope that he will is a far cry from saying he will forever be terrible.

I don't think a 50 year old QB is the answer?

How about we get some guys in here that can protect the QB, change our system to something that doesn't get QB's killed, or find coaches that can develop a QB?

If that fails, find a guy that can actually evaluate rookie or free agent Quarterbacks?
The best thing QB can do to avoid injury is to process fast and get the ball out quickly. It's the ultimate way to neutralize a pass rush and limit hits on your QB. So, yeah, actually, a 50-year-old Brady makes a lot of sense, because he does that as well as anyone.

We should just bring back Montana then, he's only 66.

Montana would also be a little cheaper than Brady since he's 66.

Wait Steve Young is only 61.

Jeff Garcia is 52.

We have a lot to think about this off season.

They can't go into season 7? With a qb reboot again.

Who is this awful QB that you're talking about? The guy with 7 rings. Lol. Please.

5 more years easy, lol. You're dreaming.

Elite DE WR TE and LB locked up. A core of young talents around that. If they keep drafting well why wouldn't they be a top team the next 5 years?

Exactly. Win a SB and you can go through a rebuild/reload, have a couple down years while you develop your younger QB's and players and build your roster back up for another run.

This is easy. You sign Brady to a one year deal, and you let Brock develop as his backup while he recovers from his injury. You can keep Lance or the best bet would be to trade him to maybe like Tennessee (remember that cryptic tweet he put out a couple weeks ago).

What could be a better situation than to have the GOAT take a loaded offense into a likely SB victory, followed by a franchise quarterback to start for the next decade plus after he's learned from the GOAT for a year.

Please Kyle do NOT botch this opportunity, especially if Brady is looking to play here.

Hurts wasn't the least bit impressive in Sundays game to attribute the outcome of that game in anyway to him being a so called superstar is laughable, never once have I came away from watching him play and wished he was my QB.

Did you see their rushing attack this postseason. That's because of Hurts and the conflict he presents. Our defense was lights out until they burned out due to us not having an offense but yet still Hurts is in the Super Bowl he's an MVP candidate and he's only lost one game this season thus far

Now if Brock stayed healthy do I think we beat them. Heck yeah I do with the way our defense was playing. We stymied Dak and Hurts pretty well considering with Geno actually looking the best of the three as far as the passing game to me but it's the conflict that Hurts presented that got to be too much to overcome with the added fact his cheap contract allowed them to invest in the trenches and in the skill positions and all that in combination proved to be too much for us after we lost our passing game

The final score was only what it was due to us being handicapped at QB

Now I'll be an honest evaluator of our situation and I will put aside any bias as well

I just believe we're on the right track and this year proved a lot to me

This conversation will be over by mid-March once both Brady and Garoppolo sign as free agents somewhere. So just hang on another 6-7 weeks, not 6 months.
