This injury might only be 6 months. People need to breathe here. Could still get a preseason game or 2 in if things go well. He's young so that should help this recovery.

If he needs the reconstructive surgery, then it's panic time.

Best case scenario, he's back throwing in 6 months, maybe he gets back to his previous level in another 3-6 months after that, not to mention missing out on an offseason of development. At this point I'm expecting Purdy to be written off as a reliable starter until 2024.

Depressing

By now, you have heard the QB news. I am at a complete loss. What a devastating injury for the kid who was likely our guy going into next season.

It's simple Tom Brady and have Trey Lance back him up. If Brady wants a chance at another Super Bowl then the Niners should be at the top of his list considering the Purdy situation. Sign him to a one or two year deal and by then Purdy should be ready to go or Lance will be ready to be the number one. This team is built to win now with most of their top end players signed for at least the next two years and assuming Bosa resigns. We'll see what happens.

I think we can get him for less than 30 million. It ain't about the money for that dude.

f**king better not be. we got our core nucleus of start offensive and defensive players to sign
Trey is back.
I've been against signing Brady for years.

But if Purdy can't play next season, Brady wants to be here, and he's willing to play for an amount that doesn't screw up our future, then go for it. Trey and Purdy sitting behind him can't be a negative at this point.

Look at Brady. He more than played well enough for Tampa this year despite a s**tty run game, poor pass blocking and an offensive scheme from 1991. I think Lance has a lot of talent but the last time he played anything more than a trivial amount of snaps was 2019. I don't want the whole season resting on a guy who mostly hasn't played for years and would still have a considerable number of growing pains to go through while this roster is loaded with talent.

I don't think Brady wants to go out on a sour note and it seems like Gronkowski is raring to go again. Let Marathe work out the financials and load up everything, go all in for next season.

That is a no-no.

Nobody really knows what Trey is. Since 2019 he's had fewer than 120 snaps in actual games.

If you're a glass half full kind of person, then that means there's a lot of room for rapid growth and progress, if you're a glass half empty kind of person then it means that you might be turning over a SB ready roster to a guy who might go through a ton of growing pains and might never be ready to be who they expected him to be when they moved up for him.

So you didn't think we needed a Brock injury thread but you think we need this one?

Not the same thing. This is about the result of the injury and the reality of what we do next.

It makes way too much sense for both sides to not be discussed.

Whether or not it'll actually happen is another thing altogether but Brady closing out his storied career playing for his childhood team, trying to help them win a SB for the first time since before he entered the league, on a loaded, SB ready roster, of course people are going to talk about it.

Agreed all-around. It certainly would make a lot of sense.
I don't think a 50 year old QB is the answer?

How about we get some guys in here that can protect the QB, change our system to something that doesn't get QB's killed, or find coaches that can develop a QB?

If that fails, find a guy that can actually evaluate rookie or free agent Quarterbacks?
