Wasnt Shany prepare to run Lance out as QB1 this season. Why would that change with Purdy possible out for a considerable amount of time.

How about we get some guys in here that can protect the QB, change our system to something that doesn't get QB's killed, or find coaches that can develop a QB?
If that fails, find a guy that can actually evaluate rookie or free agent Quarterbacks?
Dude is 45-46, not 50, lulz.

Look at Brady. He more than played well enough for Tampa this year despite a s**tty run game, poor pass blocking and an offensive scheme from 1991. I think Lance has a lot of talent but the last time he played anything more than a trivial amount of snaps was 2019. I don't want the whole season resting on a guy who mostly hasn't played for years and would still have a considerable number of growing pains to go through while this roster is loaded with talent.
I don't think Brady wants to go out on a sour note and it seems like Gronkowski is raring to go again. Let Marathe work out the financials and load up everything, go all in for next season.
Brady would do so well in a Shanhan offense. Shanhan is so big on precision and timing, getting the ball out quickly. Brady would do so well with these weapons. You look at how much he's thrived with these YAC machines - guys like Edelman, James White, Gronk, etc. Could you imagine him with Kittle, McCaffery, Deebo, etc?
Brady has always wanted to play for the Niners. Move on from Lance, commit to Purdy, let Brady ride off into the sunset with one last season in San Fran.
Yes, Brady is definitely in the mix at this point. We don't have to do anything with Lance unless we get a killer offer (we won't, he isn't worth anything at this point). Lance is at least the backup to Brady if Purdy's recovery is slower than expected. If Purdy recovers by TC, there is a competition for QB#2. That competition could result in QB#1 if Brady plays like a 46-year old man, which he did on a few occasions this past season.
In the short term, Brady now has a chance to buy another ring...if he is willing to pay the price - a one-year bargain-basement contract to allow the FO to sign/extend the guys we need. If he wants $30M, he won't get his ring.
Yes, yes to dj43, you listen.
I mean, I ain't going to lie, if Brady gets blown up out there, we are double f**ked.

Because Shanny still needs at least 3 healthy QBs, and right now he's only scheduled to have 1 before training camp. Because Brady wasn't available last offseason, and he is this season. Because it won't hurt Purdy's value and experience to sit behind the GOAT for a year. Because he rolled the dice this year on Lance and it blew up in his face; not Lance's fault, but that's the reality.
I like Lance. A lot. I like Purdy even more. But if you can buy #6 by getting Brady (and Gronk?) for a year, you take that shot.

Hard pass. Creating a cap nightmare for an all or nothing one shot.
And so many here laughed at the Rams for falling off a cliff because of how they managed the cap.
Risky business.

If Brady gets blown up, the better of either BP or TL takes over and we continue like it ain't no thing.

I don't see that happening. Brady is a very smart football player as well as an astute businessman. He knows he only has a year or two at the most to get his last ring. If he holds up the 49ers for a big number ($30+M), they will not sign him and there goes his chance. That is why I said above, Brady will have to buy his ring by signing with the 49ers for an affordable number.
In the meantime, Marathe backloads Bosa's new deal to make room this year for Brady. Everybody gets paid and a ring as a bonus.

Doesn't have to be 30m+ to create a big problem.
I don't see Brady playing for 10-15mil. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong and that's a bargain, but at the moment I don't like it and feel like it's more an emotional reaction or the hope of a fairytale that doesn't work out more often than not.

I want it badly. Pre injury I would have said hell no. This is BP's team, he earned it. He still did. He can have it soon. Let TB12 keep the seat warm.

What people are forgetting is how difficult our schedule is next year, it's absolutely brutal and Brady definitely gives us the best chance to win, especially with an entirely new defensive scheme. He would love to have these weapons, especially CMC.
