In 2-3 years you're unlikely to have any of the current weapons left in their prime. Kitten will be 30 next season, Deebo 27, McCaffrey 27, Trent Williams is already talking about retirement.

IMO, you give Lance one season where he needs to show significant improvement and a strong indication that he can be the guy for this team and if by the end of the season, he doesn't seen to have improved much, if at all, you cut your losses and move on.

Okay but answer the question. He plays a whole year and at the end still looks mostly remedial as a passer. The offense falls off as a result.

Are you then looking forward to a second year of him starting in hopes that he figures it out or looking elsewhere?

I'm just trying to figure out how many years people are willing to dedicate to a project while the team has a stacked roster.

2-3 years? The team window probably shuts after next year, if it's not already closed. There is zero way Trey is going to be given that amount of time by the fanbase, Kyle, John, or Jed when the expectation is a SB win.

We have no choice really. We have no assets to trade and I wouldn't wanna trade anything unless it's for Mahomey or Josh Allen or Herbert..or Joe Brrr.
I agree our best chance is this coming year and the jury is still out on Trey…which is unfortunate

Yeah he needs to show improvement as he plays. Take care of the ball, flash here and there, and show that the game is slowing down for him. It won't be a linear improvement, but it needs to be arrow up. He has a great supporting cast so that won't be an excuse.

I'm so glad Brady retired. Ends that conversation. 4 years ago, sure. Current day brady- hard pass.
Purdy, Lance and whatever lynch-shanny surprise us with for 2023!

We don't know when Brock will be ready. You guys would get laughed out of any NFL building with this Lance > Brady talk. Brady at 55 would probably better at the position than what Lance has shown

Good thing I don't work in an NFL building then.
And that's a stupid statement. 55....you're hate for trey runs deep.
Well, no harm no foul with Brady retiring. At least he ended the speculation early.

Now it's roll with Lance, hope Purdy recovers quickly, and bring in a vet that can be a backup ad Purdy years. I also say draft another late round QB.

Trent Williams throwing around retirement does give me the sense that he doesn't want to ride into the season with Trey Lance as QB. I'm with you, I think a move needs to be made but, the only other QB that is probably available is Aaron Rodgers and I don't think he leaves Green Bay. And the 49ers don't have the ammo to make a move for Aaron Rodgers either. There really isn't anyone else out there that could come right in and pick up where Garoppolo/Purdy left off. My hope is that Purdy is healthy by training camp.

Agreed... that's what all the Debo trade chatter was about last year as well, he wants to play with someone who can feed him and he knows Lunch Trey is mediocre... I hope we don't start to hear others wanting to be traded as well like BA or Kittle
So the Brady questions are over early. That's probably a good thing. But....can we still have Gronk?

If Purdy goes through TJ surgery, draft Haener, sign Pornstache.

I like this. How much will the "Stache" command these days?
With the 2nd Best QB of All Time retiring, it looks more and more that my prediction will come thru ONLY if Shanny accepts the fact that he will NEVER win a Super Bowl because of HIMSELF only..

We send Trey Lance to Houston for their 2nd overall pick, 3rd round, QB Mills and 2024 First Rounder.

We then send the 2nd overall pick to Green Bay along with Javon " The Big Waist" Kinlaw , Dre " Penalty " Greenlaw ..

Then we get Aaron, and the Houston's 3rd round, QB Mills (to backup Aaron) and 2024 First Rounder..

We let Purdy sit out the 23 season and draft Georgia's Bennet w/one of our 5th round picks.

Jimmy G will want a long term contract. He won't sign here short term and knows its Lance/Purdy show moving forward. He has a market out there.

Grappy's done here.. he'll be an idiot to comeback and deal w/Shanny's non-sense... Grappy can sign w/the Colts and be that starter and tutor the QB they are planning to draft.
