Rams also needed luck, every team needs luck. Brady doesn't guarantee anything. It's a one shot deal and if you miss you're facing a lot of headaches.
It's not about "saving capspace" it's about keeping the team as a whole stronger for longer.
I'd rather have multiple chances with Brock and/or Trey than one shot in the dark with Brady.
Get him for 10 or so mil, sure.....but I don't believe we're getting him for as big a discount as some are hoping.
Its about giving yourself as many options as possible. With the talent on this roster, if you were to make a one year run to try and win a SB, are you more confident with Brady or Lance? Or Brady and Lance in case another QB injury hits.
If Purdy has to undergo a complete reconstruction, he's out of the picture for next season pretty much so yeah, I'm far more confident bringing in Brady, loading up at OL and DL in the draft over rolling it all on Lance and whatever mediocre veteran QB the teams brought in to save capspace.
The cap stuff, let Marathe and Co figure all that out.
Except with Trey and Purdy it isn't just a one and done shot so not really worried about that comparison.
You can keep saying "saving capspace" all you want, but for me it's not about that, it's about allocating it across the team. Multiple investments rather than one boom or bust attempt.
Brady won't take a 10-15mil one year no strings attached contract. If he does and I'm wrong I'll put my hand up, but I'll believe it when I see it.
