Like I said in the old thread, I expect Harris now. He's a man, he's 40!
Former player, well regarded assistant coach, seems to be an up and coming guy with fresh ideas that did a good job with Washington's secondary. He was also on Anthony Lynn's staff with the Chargers and worked under Gus Bradley there too.

I don't know anything about Chris Harris so I'm a bit hesitant to trust a lifetime position coach with no DC experience to come in and take over a championship caliber defense. Saleh was part of a rebuilding team so his growing pains as a DC were fine. Ryans was an internal hire and had a good rapport with Kyle, all the players, the existing scheme and coaches. I trust Kyle to make the right choice.

Next former Washington assistant to be a HC. He had already apparently accepted a job with Tennessee to be their defensive passing game coordinator contingent on him not getting a DC job somewhere. Chicago apparently also offered him DPGC.
From the time he retired as a player, he has steadily been marching up the coaching ranks.

My understanding is that Vic Fangio, at times, was feeling a bit rushed in his process given certain connections & made some adjustments along the way as a result that contributed to the lengthier timeline of his decision too, per league source. But, all is well that ends well.

#49ers are committed to having a true process of vetting their next hire at defensive coordinator, even with Vic Fangio's vast resume, per league source.

The #49ers are still evaluating candidates including Chris Harris, Steve Wilks & the possibility of promoting Kris Kocurek.

It's likely bs seeing as Kris Kocurek has said multiple times that he doesn't want to be a DC.
@10:51
Kocurek connects with his players in part because they know he has no aspirations to be a head coach or a coordinator. His passion is the trencheshttps://www.nfl.com/news/d-line-junkie-kris-kocurek-the-force-behind-49ers-relentless-un-0ap3000001099898

Oh, I didn't know that. It probably isn't happening then.
