He doesn't want to be a D-Coordinator.

He might under Demeco and could be groomed up on the side. If pupil has a question, boss right there. If he ever was going to consider it there will never never be a better opportunity or a huge raise.

I wonder if the 49ers floated the story of promoting him to DC as a last ditch effort to keep him. Hate to see it.

not worried about the hire,,, Kyle seems like the pied piper for assistant coaches, always finds good ones... remember when he hired Saleh and we were like wtf who is this dude? that one turned out pretty good even tho he looked like Mr. Clean... Shanny will get us a competent replacement

NFL Pick 'em

How about Brian Flores? Seemed like a good D coordinator. Got a rough deal when Bill B thought her was getting a new HC job but didn't and has a lawsuit against the Giants and NFL for what happened. He's currently the LB coach in Pitt.
