Who will be the next 49ers Defensive Coordinator?

How about Brian Flores? Seemed like a good D coordinator. Got a rough deal when Bill B thought her was getting a new HC job but didn't and has a lawsuit against the Giants and NFL for what happened. He's currently the LB coach in Pitt.

Defense always played hard for him everywhere he was at.

Thats true he has said this in the past. Key word, past. People's needs and wants changes over time

Maybe, he needs and wants more money.

Demeco putting money in Coach K's pocket just by asking for an interview.

Yep.

Short of a title he has said he does not want, and could have sought prior, what is the appeal? Jed can offer him the money, so I doubt that will be a variable. Plus, the Texans may turn out to be a dumpster fire. There is no guarantee Ryans turns that ship around. Becoming their DC, in that type of situation, may be a detriment to his future aspirations, if they have, in fact, changed.

I don't see KK going anywhere.
It's possible Kocurek wants to go back to his home state of Texas. Hopefully not.

I didn't know he was from Texas. Possible reason to sign there.
This maybe a year wear our defense while it still has pieces could be a middle of the pack with potential top 10 defense with us getting it together as the season goes along.

Who do you like, Command?

Fangio was it for me or at bare minimum, they had a shadow in house candidate learning from Ryans for a full year primed to take over.

I mostly wanted Fangio because his system is the equivalent to Kyle's offense once set up (plug and play with next man up). And I felt he could challenge Kyle on their game scripts and most importantly, he's older so more likely to stay put AND be an excellent mentor/sounding board for Kyle. Not to mention the peace of mind Kyle would have with him in house...never needs to worry about the D and can focus on his offense. He'd be a great HC Assistant as well. This is why Mike McDaniel went after him too.

But I do trust Kyle on his hires. It just seems like they've got caught with their pants down again in a situation they've known about for two years.

I think they had Fangio in mind a while ago, but he choose Miami.

I disagree that he chose Miami over us. I believe there's a reason that just the other day Vic said no decision had been made on the Miami job. I fully believe that he was waiting to talk to John and Kyle about coming back to SF. I'm assuming he wanted to bring back the 3-4 and Kyle said he wanted to keep the Wide 9 scheme therefore he
pivoted back to Miami. There's zero chance that he preferred the Miami organization over SF.

We have three years of evidence of what a "Steve Wilks defense" looks like. He spent one year in charge of the defense at Carolina (2017), Arizona (2018) and Cleveland (2019). His defense finished in the top four in the NFL blitz rate all three seasons, according to Football Outsiders.

Imagine what he could do with Hufanga on his perfect timed blitzes.

I'm sure more money and less taxes would also help.

Seriously.

Im gonna cry if kris gets poached 😭

I really wish Ryans would've done it sooner before Fangio signed with Miami.

To be a make believe DC? Ryans is running that defense, much like Kyle is running our offense.

I say give him a little pay raise and let's back to work. I mean if he really wants to be a DC, you'd have to imagine he would have had interviews prior (or said he actually did).

this would be poaching at its finest. Give him a title and not the actual job
