Who will be the next 49ers Defensive Coordinator?

Sounds like DeMeco.

Good Lord.
I wonder if Hacksaw Reynolds, Ronnie Lott or Fred Dean ever needed Chuck Studley to show them the dad-feelings in order to win a super bowl.

And they all walked 10 miles, barefoot in the snow, to get to school…who cares. That was then this is now. People are much different now…for better or worse.

Reading a bit into Wilks.

We have three years of evidence of what a "Steve Wilks defense" looks like. He spent one year in charge of the defense at Carolina (2017), Arizona (2018) and Cleveland (2019). His defense finished in the top four in the NFL blitz rate all three seasons, according to Football Outsiders.

Imagine what he could do with Hufanga on his perfect timed blitzes.

It's not a characteristic that a 49er defense has had in a long time (top 5 blitz rate).

It's possible Kocurek wants to go back to his home state of Texas. Hopefully not.

I didn't know he was from Texas. Possible reason to sign there.

To be a make believe DC? Ryans is running that defense, much like Kyle is running our offense.

I say give him a little pay raise and let's back to work. I mean if he really wants to be a DC, you'd have to imagine he would have had interviews prior (or said he actually did).

this would be poaching at its finest. Give him a title and not the actual job

Kocurek has always said he doesn't want to be a DC. Ryans tells him > Kris, come with me back to Texas. I'll make you the DC, huge pay increase & new title, but the best part is I'll do all the game plans and make the game day calls. You just work the DL, as usual.
You're right, this is poaching, totally against the NFL rules and probably too much extra on Ryans. Still worries me
Fred could prolly do it to be honest

Wouldn't that not be a promotion and the 49ers could block the move?
I'd like Wilks.

The Panthers D was good despite being handicapped by the offense, and their pass rush was a big part of it.
The players seems to really respond to him when he took over and sounded like they really wanted him to stay as the HC.

In that case the 49ers wouldn't have to allow the interview happen. Interviews are only mandated for head coach, actual playcalling positions or an actual general manager position with personnel authority.
lol Big Nickel lol

I remember reading an article awhile ago about how the best ran organization at the time(ie Patriots and Ravens) mastered accumulating and using comp picks to replenish their roster. I feel like the Niners have taken this to a new level.
Make Kocurek defensive run game coordinator or something if you have to. We have to keep him. I like our options so far for DC candidates. They all seem to be good fits.
