No he wouldn't. He'd be a pass rushing OLB that gets a running start into the LOS, with his technique he would continue to dominate.

That would have disastrous results lol. It would be a huge mess lol.

I like Kocurek but I'd prefer a coach that has studied the passing offenses around the NFL. Kocurek's film study has been centered around OL and OLmen. I'm sure he can learn all that but it'd be better to bring in a coach that already has extensive knowledge of how to defend the pass imo. I want the next DC to hit the ground running. And yeah KK seems to be a lifer at DL coach.

Saleh and Ryans were both LB coaches (Ryans was a LB), so those guys are in the middle of everything. I don't think Kocurek has studied in-depth which route combinations Sean McVay favors to dial up on 2nd & medium, at midfield, to the wide side of the field, when in Trips formation.

The 49ers didn't decline. They just didn't hire him. If you want to call that a decline, I suppose you can.

Given that the last two 49er DC's were LB coaches, I would venture to think that a similar move will take place.
