Pretty disappointing they let Vic go to the Dolphins.

Not really, he runs a 3-4 and we don't want to go back to a 3-4 defense

Bosa would be diminished in a 3-4 and Kyle knows that.

No he wouldn't. He'd be a pass rushing OLB that gets a running start into the LOS, with his technique he would continue to dominate.

That would have disastrous results lol. It would be a huge mess lol.

Yeah, best as a hands down DE.
Damn, it sounds like Vic was the one given they had all year to groom an in-house candidate to immediately take over the second Ryans left.

Possibly promoting Kris Kocurek?

It's likely bs seeing as Kris Kocurek has said multiple times that he doesn't want to be a DC.

Oh, I didn't know that. It probably isn't happening then.

I like Kocurek but I'd prefer a coach that has studied the passing offenses around the NFL. Kocurek's film study has been centered around OL and OLmen. I'm sure he can learn all that but it'd be better to bring in a coach that already has extensive knowledge of how to defend the pass imo. I want the next DC to hit the ground running. And yeah KK seems to be a lifer at DL coach.
I like the idea of a guy who has seen the game from the back end rather than just the trenches. Being able to see it all play out makes for a better DC, IMO.

Saleh and Ryans were both LB coaches (Ryans was a LB), so those guys are in the middle of everything. I don't think Kocurek has studied in-depth which route combinations Sean McVay favors to dial up on 2nd & medium, at midfield, to the wide side of the field, when in Trips formation.

LB is obviously a good spot as well for a similar reason; they see how the pieces fit. There is a reason the Mike usually wears the green dot.

Haven't you been paying attention, SanFran? Fangio's 3-4 is not a fit for our defensive personnel.

Sounds like he just took his time before finalizing his decision to go to Miami.

The 49ers didn't decline. They just didn't hire him. If you want to call that a decline, I suppose you can.

Given that the last two 49er DC's were LB coaches, I would venture to think that a similar move will take place.
They are considering Kocurek per Josina Anderson
