I'm glad our kicker is making mistakes and growing/improving all of this during the pre season. Help get him ready for the regular season where we will need him sharp and as experienced as possible.

I think he will develop a lot better if he's on the actual team and getting reps throughout the season, albeit it won't be many. Just being around the team and all of that will help him understand his role better as the season goes on.

Kyle said he asks more of his TEs than any other position group (outside of qb). So it's a lot to learn, especially when you're already green

You're talking about Latu? Wrong thread.

Lmao damn. Had the wrong one opened, my bad.

big Fan of Ronnie bell though, so far. He will make the team. I think, if we keep five, it'll be Conley & Bell that get the final spots. Conley brings that experienced veteran type to the room. Then jennings will get paid next year and Bell will replace his role, IMO.

the last two years, I've said to myself when we drafted Purdy "waste of a draft pick, no QB at that slot is even going to make the team". Then for Ronnie bell I said "I think he's the only guy from this draft that won't make the team".

I'm just going to go keep doing this every year for 7th round picks because I've been horribly wrong and I love it. Hahah I'm scared if I start saying they'll be good, they'll start being bad.

Ronnie Bell? Still the wrong thread...

Ok I'm not sure if you're doing this on purpose but this is the Jake Moody thread. Lol. I like Ronnie Bell a lot too!! I also agree with you about Latu. What do you think of Moody though? 😂

Hahaha I was walking my dogs and I didn't realize I was in the Latu thread when I meant to post about bell and then in the bell thread when I meant to post about Latu. Guess I did the same in the moody thread. Lmao I'm a mess. Too many threads on here opened up.

that's what I get for posting while preoccupied.

Lmao I'm dying laughing at how bad I messed up posting in wrong threads. I wish I could say I was hammered but im not.

i was one of the guys who really wanted us to draft moody. I'm a big fan of his. I think he will be a great kicker for us. He's been a little shaky but I think he will pull through. It's tough replacing a great kicker like Gould, who was so reliable. I think once he gets some kicks under him and gets comfortable, he will be a machine. Im glad he's going through these errors in the pre season so he can be ready for the regular season.

im not really concerned. What I think he will need to do at this level, especially a stadium like ours, is really understand the weather/winds and how each stadium is impacted. Robbie was amazing at that. So maybe he can call Robbie, they have the same agent, and pick his mind on it. That is how he is going to avoid things like that missed PAT cause of the wind.

That game winner didn't inspire confidence in me ngl....

Yeah, concerned about this pick tbh. "It was the wind" well..pretty sure he has had lots of practice in wind. Wind is a part of the job lol. I would have been excited about that chip shot if it was...Fri Night Lights or something lol but this is the NFL. It barely went in. I was super glad he got the winning score. And happy for him. But we shouldn't have quite a bit of doubt going into a chip shot & just hoping he makes it, somehow. Gould just had it, form, accuracy..and from what I understand, he didn't wanna leave the Niners, so this kinda sucks. I do hope Gould gets a ring wherever he plays cause he deserves it. Hopefully, Moods gets better over time but it sure was nice to have a player where you really didn't have to be concerned much if he was gunna make the shot or not..it was pretty much automatic.

Lol a 3rd round pick on a player who can barely hit chip shots and PATs. At least these things get much easier in real games

What do you expect him to hit balls into orbit? If he's looked good in practice the only question is live fire. Only one way to find out and we soon will.
Wish and him don't see to have a great connection yet. Nothing has looked too clean so hopefully that gets dialed in over time. The kid did just kick his first game winner so that's good. Don't care if it almost missed, it went in and that's all that matters for us to get the win.
Hoping with some confidence he gets back to just being himself not thinking too much, get a 9-10 kick streak going
I am thinking about if Moody will be failed to kick the missed point again?!?! Then put him to Practice Squad "PS"! I will watch the 49ers vs Chargers preseason game this Friday night.
if we are a win team now. why are we hoping to develop this kicker doesn't make sense. we can be patient to develop a kicker but not a QB it's a instant gratification era and we are win now team sign Robbie Gould this kid needs to be on PS Jake Boooty he makes me nervous every time he goes for a kick now not a good feeling

You nailed it!
We've been spoiled with kickers - Akers, Dawson, Gould. Lol we've had veterans that were established for a long time now. We are going young, so you can expect some mistakes. I'm really not concerned about him though. I think he just needs to start understanding more of how the weather impacts each stadium and all of that. It takes time. Even gould missed kicks his rookie year. Robbie was 77.8% his rookie year
