My initial reaction was release the bum BUt he came through for us in high pressure situations and demonstrated his skill. I think he will be a long term keeper and will be one of the best in the league. Just needs to build on his late success.
This guy is still on the team?
He wasn't the reason we lost the SB. Had we made the XP we all know KC was gonna play more aggressive and get the TD in regulation anyway.

Nobody knows what would've happened. We can't say he for sure cost us the game and we can't say he for sure didn't. All we know is our odds of winning go up if he makes the kick. Drafting a kicker is stupid enough, but on top of that they relied on a rookie in a SB or bust season. Bad decisions all around

Can't say I disagree with you on the bolded. But he did make 2 50+ yard FGs in the SB that Robbie Gould didn't have the range for.

Why wouldn't he be?
It's amazing how fans expect kickers to make every FG and kick it into the end zone every time but they don't get upset when the QB misses a wide open target.
Moody had a rough start in his first game and that cemented a lot of people's opinion. Overall he had a very good season.

For me the problem is you don't need to waste a day 2 pick to get a "very good" kicker. History shows you don't need to waste a pick at all. He missed a kick in every playoff game, so idk if I can say he was very good. I can't say enough how dumb this pick was though. Who wasn't worried about relying on a rookie kicker with the added pressure of being highly drafted? How did Kyle and John not see how risky that was?

Apparently Kyle wasn't. Moody didn't have a great year but he was okay after that bad start. The 49ers aren't the only team that ever drafted a kicker. They needed one and rather than signing a retread they went for the guy considered to be the best in college. If they didn't already have what was considered one of the top 2 lineups in the NFL they probably would have looked at a different position. Let's see if he's made any adjustments and how he does this season.

In a team that has Brock Purdy why do so many argue draft status?

82% in college.
84% in the NFL.

82% in college and we drafted him in the 3rd round

Extrapolate please. It's not exactly apples to apples with that comparison.

And your point regarding 3rd round would be based on scouts analysis and team desire and many million other factoids and guess work. Why on earth are you questioning a specialists draft position when so many first rounders are duds and walmart employees become stars. It's all fugasi.

Stop making excuses.

We drafted this guy in the 3rd round.

Justin Tucker had 83% in college and he went undrafted.

A 3rd round pick for 82% is stupid and even a homer like you know it.
I wouldn't have minded the misses as much if he wasn't so much like Eli Manning with the aww shucks reaction. All while looking like a fat drunk Nick Mullens.

Because damn near most successful kickers go undrafted or late day 3. They're not top 100 picks and if they are they shouldn't be missing kicks in every playoff game.

most successful QBs are not taken on day 3 of the draft. Most are actually 1st rd picks.

not sure why that has to be explained?
