There it is. I knew people would blame him for getting injured. He's one of the best young kickers in the game. Freak injury. He made everything all year long except one 55 yarder. Mostly touchbacks too. You see how much trouble we are in without him.
He is the only one scoring points so yeah, he is important and frankly it's sad that he is. Red zone- atrocious. Having said that he is not special. Any average kicker can make the kicks he makes. We will not even know he is gone when they sign some scrub to make 30-40 yarders. Wasted draft pick.
You mean like breaking the record of longest kicks in the Super Bowl? Sure it was surpassed the same game, but he held the record for a while none the less. He missed one kick all season. And it was not a horrid miss and it was a 50+ yard long FG. You are just holding a grudge from last season where he did miss a few. Get over last season and watch this season where he makes almost everything. He has been kicking smoothly and looking great.
It was a rather important miss… game winner if I remember correctly.

Don't even know why we get cute with our weak ST's. Should just kick it out of the end zone every time and this could have been easily avoided.

TBH for as strong as Moody leg is advertised to be, he doesn't boom it every time.
Any word on his health?

He must be coached not to kick it out at times... which is depressing to me because it reveals how stupid the coaches really are.

High ankle sprain. He's expected to miss some time but you never know with those ankle sprains.

sigh. All because he had to tackle to save a TD. The return coverage has been horrific.

The guy has a leg and can't easily kick it out every time but we get cute and try to save 5 yards but end of giving up 5 or more

this is from ESPN:
Moody was aiming to hit the ensuing kickoff for a touchback as he had on all but four of his previous 27 kickoffs this season.
Kicking into the wind, Moody said he got under the ball a bit, giving Cardinals returner DeeJay Dallas a return opportunity. Dallas worked his way past the first line of Niners defenders and encountered Moody along the left side of the field. As Moody attempted to make the tackle, he was knocked backward with his body folding over his right (kicking) leg.

If Moody had just made a token attempt to tackle him and he had gone for a TD then 49er fans would be calling him a wimp.

protect the legs at all costs by going airborne
the GOAT demonstrated this get in the air and land right on your face for maximum safety

I wonder if this is just plain inexperience. Veteran kickers know these types of things. But that should legit be the plan- every single time. Kick it out on kickoffs.

With the current state of our special teams we may need to send Moody and Wish to tackling school. All hands on board!!!
