Don't even know why we get cute with our weak ST's. Should just kick it out of the end zone every time and this could have been easily avoided.

TBH for as strong as Moody leg is advertised to be, he doesn't boom it every time.

Any word on his health?

He must be coached not to kick it out at times... which is depressing to me because it reveals how stupid the coaches really are.

this is from ESPN:

Moody was aiming to hit the ensuing kickoff for a touchback as he had on all but four of his previous 27 kickoffs this season.

Kicking into the wind, Moody said he got under the ball a bit, giving Cardinals returner DeeJay Dallas a return opportunity. Dallas worked his way past the first line of Niners defenders and encountered Moody along the left side of the field. As Moody attempted to make the tackle, he was knocked backward with his body folding over his right (kicking) leg.

I wonder if this is just plain inexperience. Veteran kickers know these types of things. But that should legit be the plan- every single time. Kick it out on kickoffs.

if you read the above it seems like it is the plan everytime. he was kicking into wind and had a bit of a miss hit. that's not a failure of plan, but he didn't hit his best ball there. got under it. i guess these guys are not perfect.
Wish we had more info on who we worked out to fill the gap.
He doesn't kick again this year. Ankle sprain on his kicking leg won't heal magically enough to kick.
Could Moody's injury somehow be a blessing in disguise?

No he was playing really good actually. One of the best young kickers in the league.

Yeah.. Good question. Maybe he meant Niners fans would actually appreciate him since we're gonna be stuck with a cast-off free agent for the next 8-12 weeks.
Better kicking leg than plant leg for sure. Plant leg high ankle could be months

Even though he was playing well I was never really a fan of Moody. Maybe this injury and getting a new kicker will save us a couple of games from missed clutch or game winning kicks. He already cost us 1 game.

Plus, he always looks emotionally disturbed. Sort of disturbing to look at.

I am looking forward to a new kicker.
Confirmed one of the kickers brought in was Patterson

How in the world is Riley Patterson a FA? Dude has a career 88% FG accuracy rate
