This doesn't apply to kicker. A day 2 pick on a kicker is a waste the moment the pick is made

Raiders picked a kicker in the 1st round. A punter too.

Sebastian Janikowski and Ray Guy.

Good for them. It's not worth the return. You can hit on the greatest kicker ever in the first round and your team could go winless if they suck bad enough. Kickers aren't worth it

You can also miss on a sure fire thing with any player in the first round. It happens every year. Where a player is picked is no guarantee of how good he will be.

You're right, the draft is hard enough without wasting the picks. This is why teams need to use every pick they have to hit on real players. Guys like Patrick Willis. Guys like Frank Gore. Fred Warner

Those are catalysts to making a team a contender. That's what draft picks are for. It is a complete waste on a kicker. You never know when you might hit on one of those guys, and no kicker is worth throwing away that possibility

Drafting kickers is the type of stuff that left Belichick dead in the water when Brady left. Drafted more kickers in 2023 and left that team with basically nothing
The Niners needed a kicker at the time. I'm sure they looked at the draft board and didn't see anyone available that could make an immediate impact or break in as a starter.

4 draft classes post Brady. 40 selections made by New England with Belichick during that time.

One kicker selected in round 5.

One punter selected in round 6.

You are not a serious poster. You are simply pushing your narrative.

A George Kittle in the 5th is possible. A Tom Brady in the 6th is possible. You can find good kickers without wasting those picks. It's been proven over and over

He's being unrealistic about this and we needed a kicker. Further he's been good. Missed 1 kick all year. It was 55+. Aubrey missed 2 this year. He mostly puts it in the endzone on kickoffs. Thank goodness for that. As our kick coverage is terrible. He's a good player and worth the pick for sure.

They had 38 other picks in that same span... those two picks are not why they were "dead in the water".

Also the chances of finding the next Kittle or Brady are very very low.

Your narrative is laughable. Do better.

Yeah not everyone is Kittle and Brady. The grand majority are not. We got a good kicker who has a strong leg and he's young. We needed that as we had an aging kicker who's leg was getting weaker. So kickoff to the endzone and long kicks are in play. We needed that and got that. He missed 1 from 55+ all year. Aubrey missed 2. He's hardly doing bad. Very good even. He's a good young kicker with a strong leg in this league. He was worth it.

He still has a lot to prove but the potential was there. He had a good career in college and like you said we not only needed a kicker, but we needed a bigger stronger leg as well.

You miss 100% of the chancea you don't take. I doubt Ozzie Newsome has regrets about taking Justin Tucker and Belichick has drafted a few over the years, one being Gostkowski.

Yeah I agree completely. I don't agree with this concept that you can't draft a kicker. You can and it can be worth it too. You need all aspects on a team. Even special teams. It's weird that they expect a kicker to be perfect. Nobody else is. Why would the kicker be perfect? He's very good, with a strong leg and he's young. They are obsessed with his draft position. But compensatory 3rd is like a 4th and a 4th range is not a bad place to pick a kicker.

Please, at least we have someone who can kick into the end zone now and go to the 30. Lately it's been returns and pray our special teams don't f**k up.

He is worth his weight just to help stop returns. Missing. Give the guy a break. He's ours for the long haul.

Tucker was undrafted. All of our kickers have been too. Nedney, Akers, Dawson, Gould were all undrafted

and all of those past kickers were proven before they arrived here
Thank god he is back in the lineup. He is very reliable and he needs the reps before the playoffs
