Those misses were really way off and even the game winner wasn't down the middle. For a guy that's been pretty accurate so far this year that tells me he wasn't right. Maybe it was the layoff or maybe it was the injury. Whatever it was I think he'll get it corrected.

Possibly still nursing an injury.

Also...this is possibly his usual "all over the place" kicks going the other way instead of squeezing inside the upright.

Either way. Shaky is shaky.

Imagine how much worse it would be if he had missed the last one and we lost in OT!

If that's the case (injury related) then he should have never been active today playing
The Lions kicker made two long FGs last night. Each barely made it inside the goal posts. One was left. One was right. You probably couldn't have placed a sheet of paper between the ball and the post. Yet he made them both. Each could just as easily been wide left and right. The Broncos kicker has a 35 yard game winner blocked. Imsaw the KC kicker miss an extra point.

Kickers sometimes miss. They also sometimes get in a funk like other players. It's crazy that kickers are among the lowest paid players on the team but they're the only ones that are expected to be perfect every time. They're also usually the team leaders in points scored.

I realize now that I started this thread almost two years ago and thought Moody was a good pickup. As of right now, I think Moody has been too shaky since the start to keep him long term. I say a silent prayer every time he sets up for a kick because he is definitely not automatic like the best kickers. There's nothing the Niners can do to recoup the pick, but they can get a decent kicker off the street like Carlson to fix one of their most glaring problems.

Sometimes players say they're okay when they really aren't. Bosa wasn't at his best and did nothing at all in the first half but he wanted to go. Fans keep complaining that the 49ers wasted a 3rd round pick on Moody. I went back and checked the draft since 2019. The Niners had 8 3rd round picks. Only Puni and Moody are contributing anything. The others are gone or never panned out. There's no guarantee that if they had picked a position player at #3 that he would still be on the team.
Thread should be renamed Jake "Deer in the Headlights" Moody.

exactly. I wish the draft talk would stop.

I do want to see Moody elevate now. Just be a beast. He can do it.
KNBR has been comparing Moody's day to one that former Giants catcher Bob Brenly had. He was asked to play 3rd base and committed 4 errors in ONE inning. Then he hit a game winning walk off HR.
Except Brenly hit a home run. Moody hit a ball underneath the legs of the first baseman for the GW hit.

Sure, but moody wasn't asked to do something outside his job description.
Moody should have been left in Florida with a plane ticket home, the guy is opposite of clutch
we ride with him after he hit the game winner, see what happens from here
I also wonder if there was a pain killer of some sort used.
I couldn't imagine trying to kick with little sensation in my foot.

And he isa bit of a rough kicker as is.

quote from Campbell on his kicker he said if i put him in a position to fail, that's on me. shame on us if we put our guy in a position to fail. i don't think we did. he was healthy that's why he was out there. just missing kicks.
