His game winner was clutch. He had a lot of pressure after missing those other 3 kicks. He made clutch FGs in the SB including a record breaker. I don't think it's fair to say he's not clutch. It is fair to say he's inconsistent.

he's on thin ice, if he missed that final kick he's #openforwork

How many blocks did O linemen miss? How many tackles did the D line miss? Every player misses plays they should make. If they didn't the team would win every game. The problem with kickers is theyre asked to win games in the closing seconds. They're out there all alone so everyone can clearly see their mistakes.

I also wonder if there was a pain killer of some sort used.
I couldn't imagine trying to kick with little sensation in my foot.

And he isa bit of a rough kicker as is.

If so then why the F is he out there. He just sucks

his problem is he gets the yips, so he starts missing in bunches. it's like he's actively thinking of the prior miss while attempting the next kick. we saw this in preseason year 1.

This is a terrible comp. Kicker has one job. Every other position in football has several assignments.
You guys know we won right? He hit the clutch end of game kick. It goes in the W column. Whatever happened before doesn't matter. It's good he was able to block it out of his mind and hit it when it mattered.

it does matter. if he goes out and starts missing next week the thin ice he may just fall thru. he has to hit a lot in a row to put the doubters to rest.
I'm pissed he missed 3 but dude came through when it mattered most. I'm gonna give him the benefit of a doubt that he's rusty and not 100% yet. Next week he better get on his s**t tho, this team cannot afford to lose games they should win

Maybe but we did win. So on to next week.

Process > Immediate results.

Doing it the other way leads to long term failure. You can't excuse the kicker because he made the last kick. Pro kickers don't go 3/6.

Yes those orher player shave different assignments but they're still expected to perform. When they don't the play breaks down but most fans don't know what hs assignment was so it's harder to blame him. The kicker's job is more obvious and easier to criticize when he fails but even that job has 3 components. The snap and hold need to be timed riht and done perfectly so it doesn't cause the kick to go low or wide.

All I'm saying is it's not as easy as all the armchair coaches seem to think. That doesn't excuse Moody and I'm sure he knows he has to improve his consistency.

The main difference between kickers and position players is the amount of snaps. Imagine if Brock only had 4 throws in a game, and 3 of them were incomplete. He'd have a bad rating and a bad game. But in reality that's one bad drive and he has multiple chances to rebound from that, in the same game.
he's hovering around 80%. that's mendoza line for kickers. mendoza line in MLB is .200 avg. which is treading water about to get sent down. if you look at high water marks for kickers (and this is upper echelon) you have Butker and Tucker at 89%. a solid kicker like Jake Elliott is around 85%. Gould for his career 86%. Aubrey may just be #1 for now, insane leg power and 93%, but it's early for him.

Because of his 3 missed kicks game. Which is an anomaly for him. That bumps down his average. If you take away the anomaly he's been playing well overall. Which you can't really do. But I'm just saying it's the one bad game that's doing that. That's what is causing the average to drop. He just came back from injury, is probably rusty, may not still be full strength, has not played in a while.

He may still round into form. No he was not this bad as a lot of the guys complain. This was unusual. If it continues you have a bigger problem. One bad game you can have. Just hope he rounds into shape again.
