Two of the missed kicks were a hair off, adjusting his foot placement had him pull the worse attempt

Chalk it up to the wind monster

Still here? I'm sure that won't come back to haunt us.

Moody looked insanely rusty today, but still zero excuse for missing three kicks. His form was so greatly improved earlier in the season, but today it looked like it completely regressed back to last year's.

My personal insight as a former kicker: On the second kick, I knew as soon as his plant foot hit that he was going to yank it wide. He pointed that plant foot WAY too far left. The torque gets completely thrown off then and you're twisting and striking the ball essentially facing the left post at that point.

His plant foot placement was crap on the game winner too. He essentially had his foot pointed right at the post, and he also turned it out on its side so his plant foot wasn't even sturdy on the ground in his follow through. He was BARELY able to shift his body weight enough to get it to go left, BUT, IF YOU NOTICE.. his plant foot placement perfectly explains why it started to curl wide, and would've missed if it had been a longer kick.

They won't cut him yet, but he better fix this crap asap.

OMG. You are Ray Wersching? In the presence of greatness.

Where do you want him to be on this picture? If he goes further to the right he will hit the holder.

My dad always told me I was like Ray when I was a kid. Never had a big leg, but was accurate!

You had punting experience too? San Hose native? Accuracy second only to Robbie Gould?

To answer Wally, they did fix it, but he lost his form coming off injury.

Aside from losing the first AZ game, the other biggest reason I was pissed is he had greatly improved his form from last year and looked like he was on his way to a monster season.

Instead, he goes 4 weeks not being able to kick a ball, 5 weeks before he kicks in a game again, and completely regresses to last year's issues.

Cold turkey not kicking for that long is a problem for a position that relies on locking in perfect form on a consistent basis.

It wasn't cold turkey though. He was practicing.

I'm guessing he hadn't gotten his form back in practice is what I'm saying.

Regardless, this is the NFL, you should be able to fix a simple technical flaw. The fact that he had the same problem on nearly every kick is frustrating. No excuse for missing these.
I feel like a thread with 267 pages about a kicker is equivalent to 8,200 Jimmy G pages

100% agree. Moody and Schneider are going to definitely cost us a game this season. No doubt about it.

Carlson should be on the practice squad right now.

You say this as if they haven't cost us in literally EVERY loss we had this season.

Vikings - blocked punt
Rams - critical missed FG under 3 minutes to play giving the Rams a chance to tie the game, big punt return allowed giving Rams chance to win the game.
Arizona - literally right after our best ST play of the year - we allow a big return on the ensuing kickoff where Moody gets injured and we severely impact our ability to close that game out not being able to kick FGs
KC - big put return allowed setting up KC for their first TD

I have 0 faith that special teams won't continue f*cking us over and making it harder to win games.
cue they Peyton manning "idiot kicker" sound byte
