Why have him kick it short in the first place when your coverage is dog s**t?

Same thoughts. Their coaching this year is not up to par.

Was it confirmed coaches told him to do that? That would be stupid af.

I assume they were concerned about a kick return. I saw it in the game last night as well. It doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

The strategy is questionable for sure but if he's asked to kick it to a certain spot that shouldn't be an issue. Especially off a T. I'd be surprised if Moody is back next season when teams are finding studs off the streets and even guys from different sports. What a terrible pick this was.

Shanahan said they didn't ask him to do that and that he just shanked it.

He needs to be gone. Zero confidence in him.

Definitely needs competition.

On a weird note.. It's kind of crazy how some of the previous best kickers are having awful years.

Tucker is actually the 2nd worst in the NFL right now. Only Dustin Hopkins is worse.

McPherson, Koo, and Elliot all were good previously but are also below Moody (for now).

Jake is currently 7th worst among guys with at least 20 attempts this year. Still not close to good enough.

Team should bring in Ryland, Wright and or Carlson to compete next season.

I recall watching something that basically said different kickers have different forms and the one Tucker uses is very precise and there is little room for error, so when age or an injury happens that precision is gone.

i wonder if Moody uses the same form.
Let's go back in time and redo the entire 2023 third round for the 49ers:

Puka Nacua instead of Ji'yir Brown
Chase Brown instead of Cameron Latu
Kobie Turner instead of Jake Moody

Yes!
Is this guy capable of ever putting a kick right down the middle?
This guy needs to be gone this offseason. Inexcusable
No chance we bring this bum back.
Please, PLEASE cut this waste of a draft pick.
He should retire from football completely. Never before have I seen such a gutless player.
What a waste of a 3rd rounder.
