I assume they were concerned about a kick return. I saw it in the game last night as well. It doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

The strategy is questionable for sure but if he's asked to kick it to a certain spot that shouldn't be an issue. Especially off a T. I'd be surprised if Moody is back next season when teams are finding studs off the streets and even guys from different sports. What a terrible pick this was.

Shanahan said they didn't ask him to do that and that he just shanked it.

Definitely needs competition.
On a weird note.. It's kind of crazy how some of the previous best kickers are having awful years.
Tucker is actually the 2nd worst in the NFL right now. Only Dustin Hopkins is worse.
McPherson, Koo, and Elliot all were good previously but are also below Moody (for now).
Jake is currently 7th worst among guys with at least 20 attempts this year. Still not close to good enough.
Team should bring in Ryland, Wright and or Carlson to compete next season.
