Whether he can overcome ths in the off season and come back next year is a question mark. I suspect that they will bring him back next yer but they'll also have guys ready to take over if he gets off to a bad staert. His cap hit is $1.4 million next year. The average is about $2 million for kickers so it's not a money issue. Kickers are astrange breed. The Lions kicker missed 2 extra points last night so he could have been the goat if Purdy hadn't thrown 2 INTs that stopped drives and gave Detroit easy scores. Last night was the worst I've seen for Moody. I know both his FGs were over 50 yards with one being 58 but he was all over the place.

It's not just last night....

Dont care about practice. Everyone looks good at the driving range.

If he wasnt a 3rd he would be gone by now.

Hard to feel sorry for a guy making 1.4 mill kicking a ball.
f**k this guy

It has nothing to do with his salary. He's making less than the league average. It' about being reliable and at this point he isn't. He may never be able to revover his form or he may need to move on and start over with anther team. It's hard to regain confidence in a place where you know the fans are all concerned about your ability. Place kicking is at least half mental. Far more than any other position. It's why coaches call those time outs so the kicker can think about it more.

Since it's not a money issue I still say bring him back and bring in compition as well. Get a good look at some other guys and be ready in case Moody gets off to a bad start again. The problem is as you pointed out, kicking in practice and in games is different so there's no way of knowing how good any of the guys you bring in will perform. If they're available it's probably because they failed with another team.

Catch 22. Definitely has the yips.

Like I saidthey're hard to overcome sometimes. Golfers can struggle for years with putting. We've seen baseball players that couldn't make a simple throw to first base.
72% this season. in nfl terms that's a F minus. anything below 80 is F. f stands for fired

I'm more annoyed that postgame he always looks like he doesn't give a s**t. Even during the game when Kittle was trying to fire him up he was like 'ok'.
I'm seeing more "shell shocked" then "don't care." I think he sees the end coming.

Try a different sport, Moody. You're still a young buck. Many transition to the NFL from other sports. How about the other way around for once besides MMA and boxing? Go try your foot at soccer. Maybe one day you'll play for MLS and Team USA as a stout center back.

How in the world was Moody considered the best kicker in college after seeing this summary on his draft profile?

Weaknesses
  • Doesn't have a booming leg.
  • Made just 66.6 percent of kicks from 40-plus yards in last two seasons.
  • Has a tendency to pull kicks occasionally from the right hash.
