It's not unheard of but for a 30 year old that just had a great season, and it being his last big contract, this is really commendable - borderline bad financial decision. Tells us a lot about where his head is at. Let's get him a ring.

Well you're not that bright if that's what you thought lol

Not to mention, Justin Smith was 29 when he signed with the 49ers with a 6 year deal. Hargrave is almost the exact same age (30). I know Seahawks fans tend to struggle with complex topics but this one is pretty straight forward.

Get used to it folks. Everyone overpays in free agency. This is why building through the draft is so darn important.
I wish I could be more excited. 30 years old. 50% of his sacks came in the last two seasons of his 7 year career when he was on a star studded defensive line. Last year he had 3 multi sack games. 3 against the texans and their amazing offense. 2 against his old team, the steelers who were struggling offensively with a rookie qb, and after losing a lot of their offensive line. 2 more sacks against the bears, and fields..... 1 sack in 3 playoff games.... wtf are we paying 21 million a year for? This dude had an awesome year against one of the easiest schedules Everlast year, and has been average or below the rest of his career. I know he played in the Steelers 3-4, but I would have rather kept mccglichey than sign this guy. The closer I look, the more I dislike it. Please, someone convince me otherwise. We have Bosa to extend, and now it looks like we will probably have to let aijuk walk or get traded.

He's still going to be on a star studded defensive line.

Some overpay in draft picks and money for safeties that can't cover though

Relax, we'll be able to keep BA.

He's a great player. One of the highest pressure rates as well. DT is not always about getting sacks.

He's still going to be on a star studded defensive line.

And he's a DT. Sack stats is not the place I would start when making judgement on players at DT.

Because he's consistently been one of the top five DT's in football at generating pressure over the past few years.

And I bet that once the contract structure comes out, its going to be less than $21 mil a year.

Of course it will be. It's Paraag.
I love it! Now with givens as depth. Jackson with another year of growth, bosa, armstead, Warner, greenlaw, Demonoirre (how ever they hell it's spelled), huff, Gipson, and C Ward!

If we stay healthy, we could be better than last season on the front seven - which we all know will make our secondary much better. Our secondary was solid last year besides
huff missing big plays with broken coverage.

i hope we can resign Jimmie ward

I think it should be obvious to anyone that there's no real fourth year. Its a 3 year deal probably in around $55 mil with the rest as added fluff for bragging rights.
