I was searching for a scouting report on his run defense and found this breakdown article. Lots of stuff mentioned. He did not grade out well versus the run.

Where did we get the dough? This puts us way over doesn't it? even without jimmy.

A number of people have asked how we have the money.
--- As I understand it, we don't have to be compliant right NOW.
--- We can manage things so we have more cash this year by restructuring some of our contracts.
--- It helps to have 2 QB's on rookie contracts.
--- I assume Paraag will do his magic so that cap hits are managed well and everyone's big hits aren't hitting at the same time.:
--------- Year 1 of Hargrave's Deal: CMC cap hit is only $12M, Deebo is only $9M
--------- Year 2: Deebo balloons to $28M, but Lance is only at $10M.
--------- Year 3: Arik Armstead and Mooney Ward's hits are only $6M and $4.8M respectively.
--------- Year 4: Deebo and Kittle's hits are only $8M and $2M respectively.
--------- Trent Williams, Fred Warner are gonna be big hits for the next couple years though. The structure of Nick Bosa's potential extension will be key, and they're gonna have to make a decision on whether they can afford both Deebo AND Aiyuk.

Those low cap hits for AA, Deebo, Ward are all void years. They're currently scheduled to be free agents those years but we're still taking those cap hits.

They'll need to be re-signed or replaced.

Yeah, I imagine when the time comes, we'll let AA walk, unless he chooses a team friendly deal. Doubt it, because he'd be on the tail-end of his career and it would be last opportunity to cash in. But interesting to think about.
Deebo and Mooney will test the market, pretty sure we'll let those guys go.

So the question of re-signing Aiyuk is an interesting one. But yeah, imperative that we continue to draft well.

I just heard an interview on KNBR with an Eagles beat reporter and he said his run grades are misleading because he was never really asked to play the run. He's apparently a "good" run defender but he didn't play a lot of 1st downs. Was primarily used on 2nd and 3rd down to rush the passer.

He's not a great run stopper which is why I suspect they'll bring in more of a traditional NT to utilize on run downs either via draft or a lesser FA.

He did grade out a lot better there though with the Steelers so how he was used plays a big role in it.

I'd settle for not being moved 1.5 yards off the LoS when double team blocked. It appears his clear strength is as a pass rusher.

Ahhh cool breakdown. I'm confident though that the front office will put together a deep defensive line, and Kocurek will deploy the guys in a rotation that maximizes everyone's skillsets. This way, Hargrave doesn't get targeted by opposing rushing offenses and he can really tee off in passing situations.

I like it, but now you're paying armstead bosa and Hargrave? Thays a lot of money on the dline when the. Oline needs so much help.

But we got mckivitz, Brunskil and no center, so that's decent.

Hahahahaha only you would have a fit over this
this signing made me bet 500 on the 6th lombardi.
Would net 5000

Shanny loves to draft Olinemen later in the draft. All of those comp picks, I can see him eyeing a bunch of up and commers.

Whether we restructure Trent is the interesting one for me. After this year his dead money cap hits are 8m, and less than 2mil with savings of 22 and 30 respectively

Seems like those last couple of years were safeguarded for a potential retirement.

Makes for a good restructure candidate if he keeps playing on, but could be risky if he doesn't.

Would have liked Ridgeway back, but he got himself a nice deal with HOU. But yes, I'd like a run down DT so Hargrave is fresh for pass rush downs. (Kevin Givens is not that guy)
