My understanding now..
He was set to count near $30 million against the cap next year. The restructure reduced it to $10m. Creating $20m in now available funds. This gives us more room for upcoming free agency, and then 3m more after June 1, if we release him prior to free agency as a post-June 1 cut.
If we don't release him, the same problem repeats. Cap number would explode to $30m in 2026.
Is that right, AB? This would be insanely clever cap maneuvering by us.. Wow. We'd still be on the hook for 7.3 million in dead money the next few years.. But between the two options, if you get a quality young DL, you would wind up saving money.

I was gonna say Safety but no way they spend money on one when they have Mustapha and Hufanga. Trust me, I was the most loudest crying for a Safety in free agency!!!!
