Gore, I haven't posted here in five years, what obvious questions are you talking about?

I think you're confused lol. You were definitely here at least for Purdy's rookie season, it hasn't been 5 years. All good, wb

Yeah, I thinks it's been 3 years. But, your crazy, brother. I don't ask questions just to ask them. I really forgot if Hargrove was a pick or free agent.

This question might've been answered, but how much cap is saved when he is cut June 1 ?

They already redid his 2025 year, saves $17.8M, if he's healthy when the release is official, they save that $2.1M base salary, plus his per game roster bonus & workout bonus.

i don't see him being cut, unless he restructures again

Not a chance have you been gone for 3 years.
Bust of a signing, should of been a one year deal

don't know how accurate this is from the best sports writer we know.

Calling Hargrave a horrible signing from the start is just ignorance. Which is roughly what I would expect.

Cohn is a joke...His opinions are like some posters that lack reality. Hargrave is better than anyone we can get for 7 Mil we save by cutting him.

I agree. I just don't see what we gain in savings. Proven pass rusher that gave us 7.5 sacks in a down year (2023). Use him appropriately and get a bigger body next to him and I could see 9-12 sacks. It's all about over now however.
Yes Hargrave is an example of how the 49ers dont maximise the potential of their players.

We should have got a big body next to him and let him so his thing which is to get after the quarterback, instead we tried to change him into a run stuffer.

And now he is gone.

Hargrave will go somewhere else on less money and get 12 sacks next year.

That is his specialty.

So what is the point of releasing him post June 1?

to save 2m in 2025 but get hit for 17m dead cap in 2026

His cap number balloons to a massive level the year after so it's better to cut now. Collins is a cheaper version of Hargrave. His age is a problem and we are trying to put together the next strong core group. Just doesn't fit the plans.

This signals an obvious move to add serious beef in the middle in the draft this year.

Still don't get it. Save 2mil in cap space doesn't seem worth it. Isn't the dead cap set with the restructure?

Just a bad signing to pay HArgrave so much money then we didn't use him correctly. He's not a 4 down guy. Just have to take the hit and move on. It is what it is.
To be fair his get-off was pretty impressive. But his run blocking was worse than I expected. Maybe it's more glaring being in the Wide9.
