I think it is a downgrade, but what can they do? Both of those guys got paid. Personally, I didn't want to lose Ebukam. I thought he was very underrated around here.

Playing Armstead at base end is going backwards. I hope they don't do that. You can play Ferrell as a base end, but I think Drake Jackson will be the dude opposite Bosa if he puts in the work this offseason.

There's some edge talent in the draft. Some guys that can be that base end with some pass rush talent imo. No blue chippers.

They're not done signing guys either.

I want to know the salary first but I´m not impressed quite frankly.
Losing Ebukam and Omenihu and signing Ferrell is a downgrade for me.
Maybe they know that Drake Jackson will be ready to be the starter opposite Bosa in year 2 I don´t know.
Maybe Armstead will play Base End and someone will play with Hargrave on the inside.
Is Jordan Willis FA?

They should position armstead like that. Otherwise you really don't have much opposite bosa.

I don't count on Jackson or any draft picks.

Journey man from Oakland to Vegas I guess lol

Everyone is like "why only a one year deal!"

Wouldn't you do that if you were a DL trying to get a better contract lol. Come here for a year for cheap and then ball out and get paid

Ebukan and Ominehu got PAID too after their time with the niners. Wouldnt shock me if they just watch the waiver wire for a veteran pass rusher to add to the mix too.

Very meh. For rotational depth it's fine

Ferrell is reportedly a solid run-defender. Pass-rushing? Hasn't shown much, but Ebukam and Omenihu weren't world-beaters either when they came here. In terms of pass-rushing, all three have season highs of 4, 4.5 sacks prior to the 49ers.
Jordan Willis and Arden Key each only had 3 Career Sacks before coming here.

Ferrell is projects to be a similar type of acquisition to those four: unheralded guy that needs a change in scenery. He could flourish with the better surrounding cast, environment, and Kocurek maximizing his skillset.

All in all. This is the same type of low risk move that has yielded results the last few years.
Should get 4.5 sacks just standing there waiting for Bosa to flush the QB to him

Exactly this. Ferrell is a bust but he's one of the most talented guys that Kocurek has had to work with. If Ferrell can't get it going while surrounded by guys like Bosa, Hargrave and Armstead, the NFL might just not be the place for him.
Get the feeling that Ferrell is our Omen replacement. Guy who can line up inside and out.

Does that make Drake our Ebukam replacement or we got something else moving down the pipeline?
This is EXACTLY what I wanted. Hoping he plays inside and out. He came into the league as a little more polished as a pass rusher. We saw Coach K turn Arden Key's career around. Hopefully the same can happen to Ferrell. He may have been overdrafted, but he was always a first round talent.
Excellent pick up

Not sure about this. Arden Key I feel like had more raw ability. Ferrell had a great college career but his limitations were evident.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.
We now have 5(6) gameday players(Drake jackson?) 4 can play inside 4 can play outside.

A few that interest me now are kyle van noy, justin houston, ingram, and fox.
I think houston and fox are self explanatory.

With van noy/ingram i like the 2 down linemen muddy look.
and can Van noy play as the 4-3 OLB? And from there give dominant 5/6 man front look

I swear we just pluck highly touted busts from the raiders knowing that they never develop their players well
