I would never move a down DE to a LB.. or even to be an OLB on a 3-4 D..

Disagree. He played with some pretty talented dudes at Clemson. He has never played in the pros with a cast like this.
Well I did mean the Pros. Lol

solid run stopper and good rotational player
Great addition as a 2nd unit DL player
I think we are hoping improvement in pass rush comes from Drake Jackson at DE and Khalia Davis at DT

You couldn't come up with a better blueprint of Ferrell for coach Kocurek. Another pass rusher, can't wait.

I like it since it was probably a coach K pick, I'm sure he had his say in which cheap FA edge he wanted and he picked Ferrell as it. Think he can be the next Arden Key for us

I kind of like these one year prove it contracts....
Some guys just ball the hell out during contract season....
You give the guy very solid d-line coaching, it is all on the player to not waste their time here, and if you get great play out of them and loose them....well at least you got great play out of them.
If it is a guy that really does not have anything left in the tank....mentally or physically..... the 49ers are not on the line for years more of that contract.
In ferrel's case the dude sounds mature and no-nonsense.... I don't know anything about him other then a few small articles written about his college days and growing up...but the dude at leasts appears to say the right things.

Well as of now he's a been a really solid run blocker but a below average pass rusher. I expect he will be a better pass rusher this year and get us 3.5-4.5 sacks with some good pressures. He will benefit a lot from not only the talent around him but being a rotational player.
Few guys are built like the Bosa's/Justin smiths of the world. A lot of guys do great in these support roles and carve out a nice career for themselves. It's cool.

As long as he doesn't get schooled on screens and quick hitters, it's a double snap.

I take it all back... Ferrell can play OL too? Great signing.

Agree
Still, if anyone can make him better - our coaching staff can.

Raiders took a jab at our bust pick with Solomon, now we do them a return
