They gave up nothing and owe him nothing. The only thing they did was insulate themselves from *needing* to draft a kicker. Every option is still on the table.

This is exactly why it was a great move. Still think they're going to draft a kicker and this definitely got Robbie's attention as well.

I think Zane can do the job, his numbers last year look pretty good. Just needs to improve on getting the ball in the end zone on kickoffs.

What are we doing here? What made us trade for a kicker that sucked before his injury?

Robbie gone

We plan to score on every drive and go for 2 every time so a good kicker isn't high up on the priority list.

Lynch said Friday that Gould is still in play. If it doesn't work out, Zane, I think can do the job.

But he didn't play last year. This guy is a choke artist when he needs to be clutch. I still don't believe he's the answer, all we did was swap late round picks for him. We still retain Robbie or draft a kicker I think.

I don't think he's that bad, but a late round swap can work, too.

I looked at his stats for 2021 when he last had a full season. He made 90% of his FG attempts which was higher than Gould's (87%). Looking at the numbers at each range they both appear about the same. I don't see any huge drop off or gain. He's a lot younger and probably cheaper.

Yeah, they didn't trade for him to put him on the practice squad. Robby is probably gone.

Yup.. Robbie said he was leaving and we publicly said our goodbyes..

Imagine saying goodbye to a player and that guy just comes back for another season

would just be weird

Yeah, Zane is a lot younger and his numbers are just as good as Gould's. No brainer.

We kind of did that with Jimmy so it isn't that weird.

Yeah, it wouldn't be weird, Robby loves the Niners and visa versa. Maybe, something can still happen.
I am sorry but this is the worst trade in franchise history, 49ers could have Zane for FREE!
