The ones I went over the most, TDP or Laborn, went with TDP, as I think Laborn makes it thru waivers, I also considered 3 backs & 4 TEs, but Dwelley doesn't go thru waivers, so he can be signed to the PS.

My surprise cut: Oren Burks, I don't think it's GTD he makes the roster, they took 2 LBs that are under team control thru 2026, kept McCrary-Ball as LB 5.

Still see 6 WRs, with Gray, Bell, & McCloud as the backups.

I went with a fav of NCs Leroy Watson on the PS, if he impresses, maybe he wins the Swing T spot?

We have to automatically push the 3rd rounders ahead even if they're not the clear better players...Gray, Davis-Price, etc. The FO isn't going to want to give up on them yet and there will always be a bit of ego involved too.

Oren Burks would be a good pick. He played well last year and is a really good ST player. I could still see a path for him out though.

Too funny, he just got beat 3 times in a row by Ferrell so I removed him. But keep an eye on him once the pads come on.

Here's who David Lombardi currently has:

Offensive Personnel: --- 26
QB: Brock Purdy; Trey Lance & Sam Darnold
RB: Christian McCaffrey; Elijah Mitchell, Jordan Mason & Tyrion Davis-Price
FB: Kyle Juszczyk
TE: George Kittle; Charlie Woerner, Cameron Latu & Brayden Willis
XWR: Brandon Aiyuk; Danny Gray
SWR: Ray-Ray McCloud; Jauan Jennings
ZWR/F: Deebo Samuel; Ronnie Bell
LT: Trent Williams
LG: Aaron Banks; Nick Zakelj
C: Jake Brendel
RG: Spencer Burford; Jon Feliciano
RT: Colton McKivitz; Matt Pryor

Defensive Personnel: --- 24
RW9: Nick Bosa; Clelin Ferrell
3T: Javon Hargrave; Kevin Givens & Kalia Davis
2i: Arik Armstead; Javon Kinlaw
LW9: Drake Jackson; Kerry Hyder & Robert Beal Jr.
SAM: Oren Burks; Dee Winters
MIKE: Fred Warner; Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles
WILL: Dre Greenlaw
RCB: Charvarius Ward; Darell Luter Jr.
SCB: Isaiah Oliver; Samuel Womack III
LCB: Deommodore Lenoir
FS: Tashaun Gipson; Ji'Ayir Brown
SS: Talanoa Hufanga; George Odum

Special Teams: --- 3
LS: Taybor Pepper
PK: Jake Moody
P: Mitch Wishnowsky

I was tempted to put Bryant on the PS, and Hyder on the 53, I'm a huge Hyder fan, but the $550K GTD for Bryant tells me they like him a lot.

Lombardi's 53 wouldn't surprise me if that's the 53, barring injuries of course.
What do you think? After this first 53 contest is done slated for day before Training Camp, the second contest will be the "70" which includes the 53 + the Practice Squad slated to end the day before final cuts. We will have 2 crowns. The "53" & the "70". Who might win both?

Lombardi's 53 looks solid. I go back and forth on Hyder/Bryant. I think he is right on 4 TEs.

Lombardi's 53 is essentially mine right now.

I know it's not sexy with no real surprises, but I dont buy into the UDFA hype like most of the Zone. See: Poe and West from last year. Sometimes the roster that makes sense is...the roster that makes sense.

Excited to project the PS. Id like to see a bit more balance this year, including 1 QB and 1 or 2 RBs. Way too may O-linemen in the past.

That could be a legit battle.

Yeah, I think if you're starting today, that's a very safe start.

There's always that surprise make and cut though.

Yes, that should be a legit battle, Bryant vs Hyder, may the best man win.

It could be the 53, barring any injuries of course like you said.

I also look forward to projecting the PS, gonna be tough, I kinda want to keep both Laborn & Awatt on the PS if one of them doesn't make the 53.

For sure. I'm still struggling with numbers right now...RB, TE, WR, DL, etc.

I was tempted to go 3 RBs and 4 TEs, I still think 6 WRs & 10 DL, maybe 11 DL, just tough right now, with everyone, or mostly everyone healthy, need to see these new guys out there in preseason.

Guys like Poe and West never stood out though. They had people excited because of their athletic potential and we were starving for interior lineman after losing multiple starters, but their OTA and training camp reports weren't good.

A guy like Jamison is supposedly standing out and looking really sticky in coverage during OTA's. If it was just one reporter hyping him, it would be one thing, but damn near all of them have been glowing about his coverage abilities.

I agree with much of Lombardi's 53, but I think either Ray-Ray or TDP is gone to keep another CB/returner in Jamison. I also can't see Flannigan-Fowles making it over both McCrary-Ball and Graham.
What Free Agent signing or trade is going to happen before training camp? Justin Houston makes sense to me.

Marcus Peters come on down

I want Danielle Hunter. He's by far the best edge rusher that's available or rumored to be available. Next would be Sweat, Young, Ngakoue, Houston, and Quinn. I'm just not sure how much the older guys have left in the tank, and that worries me about Houston and Quinn.

Houston makes a lot of sense. I'm continuing continually googling niner FA/trade rumors lol
