Gotta fill out a 90 man roster. Conley hasn't done jack in years. This is a Travis Benjamin signing.

Nailed it. Their team building strategy is so easy to see by now. And they're usually pretty good at finding their doppelganger.

Examples:
Lose Marquise Goodwin - Sign Travis Benjamin (+a ton more like him including Chris Conley); draft Danny Gray
Lose Daniel Brunskill - Sign Jon Feliciano; draft Spencer Burford
Lose Colton McKivitz (starter potentially) - Sign Matt Pryor
Lose Laken Tomlinson - Draft Aaron Banks
Lose Jimmie Ward - Sign Isaiah Oliver (slot) & Miles Hartsfield (versatility)
Lose Jordan Willis & Charles Omenihu - Sign Clelin Ferrell, Austin Bryant & Kerry Hyder
Lose Joe Montana - Draft Trey Lance

I think Conley could be a "if Danny Gray is a bust" type of signing. Kyle wants that speed element in his WR corp. If Danny Gray isn't that guy, they can line up Conley and have confidence that he knows what he's doing out there, being an experienced vet.

I hope Kyle finally has that dude either way. He's been looking for him for ages, it feels.

KS better use Gray more this season, we saw what he can do in the preseason, give him some PT, can't keep BA & Deebo out there 80% of the time, need to rotate. I don't see Gray going anywhere, he's a great gunner for this team along with Odum, Conley's gonna need to win a spot from another player at a different position, not sure we suit up 6 WRs anyway, Conley likely is a PS player, the $400K GTD is close to what he would get as a PS player.

Is the right side of the line going to give any QB the time to get it deep?

Patiently waiting on when we sign that vet pass rusher

That's Ferrell and Hyder.

I mean some legit real vet pass rushers like Justin Houston. I'm not sure Hyder makes the team and CF has very little pass rush ability.

Maybe after the draft when prices come down.

90-man roster. You need guys and it makes sense to add another deep threat. I'd add one with some returner ability in the draft, no matter what Danny Gray looked like last season.
The final piece in our quest for six
Conley is just to ensure Jennings and Gray has legit competition in camp. 50/50 chance he even makes the team. Also gives the 49ers flexibility in the draft knowing that they do not have to draft a WR if the draft doesnt fall the way they would like.

i'm legit worried gray isn't gonna make that jump this season.
