Does Kyle want a franchise QB

A better question would have been "Is Kyle capable of finding a franchise QB?"

So far, I would say "No"

Kick tires too late on Rogers too, imagine if they offered 3 first for Rogers. Packers be dumb not to take it and we would have gotten #6 and #7.
What coach or team doesn't want a franchise QB? Kind of a silly question. Of course Kyle wants one but there aren't many out there. I don't think there are more that half a dozen or so that qualify as true franchise QBs. I'm talking about guys that are in the top ten or top 5 years after year and can lead your team for 10 years at least. They become the true face of the team. They actually win games when needed instead of just managing the coaches game plan. They succeed no matter who the receivers are and even when there isn't much of a running game. That's my definition of a true franchise QB and there just aren't many guys like that.

Rogers was one at one time in his career but he's to old to be one now. He's more of a 2 year hired gun because of his seeming lack of commitment.

Be crazy to even entertain giving up that much, when we have our future in the wings, looking good to start the opener.

It wouldn't have been crazy to give up that much in 2021 when they drafted Trey. They conceivably could have won two chips with legit pro bowl QB play. The team got close but Rodgers could have put them over the top.

I know, Shanny wants a franchise QB . He gambled big on Trey. So far I think he failed Trey. He has a whole off season to come up with a game plan for Trey to open the past season. A whole year. What does he do? Run him like a sled dog. That was his game plan?

I was super high on Fields coming out of the draft given Lawrence was #1 no matter what. It seemed Shanny experienced enough of Lance in training camp to determine, man this can't can't deliver an accurate ball, consistently so he ran him into the ground.

The very same game that Trey got hurt in, Jummy came out and he was slinging it, not running it. Game plan changed. I think Kyle wants one he just hasn't found it, yet.
He tried to get Stafford- a franchise qb
He had a package to get Deshaun Watson- a franchise qb
He used a package of draft picks to try to get a franchise qb in Trey Lance

so the answer is obviously yes.

Interesting you say this since Trey Lance was literally following the same path as Mahomes. Literally identical in which both QBs sat year 1 and both were given the stating QB job in year 2. Only difference being Lance got hurt in year 2. Same exact thing with Hurts. But somehow we create this false narrative that Kyle doesnt want to take the time to develop him? What crock of poop.

Very true Mike. Also, when Ensatsu said defenses are going to study up on Purdy and he's not going to throw up 30 ppg he neglected to mention something extremely important.

Just as defenses might play a little better vs Purdy with more film…..Purdy was a rookie and is GOING TO DEVELOP and get better with experience and know our system better which everyone knows Shanahan's system takes at least a year to master. What a crock of poop is right. Either he was being disingenuous or isn't smart enough to know that most qbs improve with playing time which will more than outweigh defenses game planning against him.

Purdy already was playing at a top 3 qb level. Elite. He didn't even have a #1 wr (Deebo) for a lot of games.

50 it is!!! The Warriors better win this next one dammit. What does the package tell you? Inquiring minds want to know
The whole problem with the franchise QB argument is that you rarely know who will qualify for that tag until they actually prove they can do it. If everybody knew Brady would turn out the way he did he wouldn't have been passed over by every team in the league six times. If everyone knew that Mahomes would be what he was he would have gone first in the draft, not Trubisky. If everyone knew Rodgers would have the career he had the Niners would have picked him first or, failing that, he wouldn't have fallen all the way to 25. The full story hasn't been written on Brock Purdy yet but if everyone knew he would have played the way he did he certainly wouldn't have lasted until the last pick in the draft. Most of this franchise QB talk is all hindsight.

There are a lot of people in here for whom Josh Allen seems to be some kind of QB wet dream and yet for all of the chatter about him he still hasn't taken Buffalo to the Super Bowl yet. I have a very short memory for all of this stuff but hasn't he lost a couple of AFC Championship games so far? Jimmy helped his team get to two NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl and essentially got run out of town for it. Josh Allen hasn't even gotten his team to a Super Bowl and yet he is held up as this model for what a "franchise QB" should be in some people's eyes. And for all of the gaudy plays and stats he's put up Rodgers still has only one Super Bowl win to his name. Does that still make him a franchise QB? "Oh, well, you always have a CHANCE with Rodgers". In the three years that Jimmy was mostly healthy he helped get the team to three NFC Championship games. It seems to me that fits some people's description of what a franchise QB should be. He wasn't able to finish the job last year, but they might not have gotten there at all of he hadn't helped them put that string of wins together in the middle of the season. "Oh, well Brock would have won those games too if had started". Maybe but he wasn't starting was he, so it fell on Jimmy to get the job done and he did.

True franchise QB's are an incredibly rare thing. In the last twenty years or so you can probably come up with only three or four names that everyone could agree on. Maybe only two, Brady and Mahomes, in terms of what they have actually accomplished in regard to winning Championships, and yet a lot of people come in here season after season acting as if a "franchise" QB is some kind of birthright for 49ers fans and that they are entitled to have one, by god. It's pretty tiresome.

Going to run the table and face the Lakers in round 2.

You dont know that. What if it was Rodgers who injured his elbow like Purdy? He'd retire.
I can't believe 33% of people aren't voting Yes.

It's the NFL.

Kyle is an NFL head coach.

We signed Jimmy to a record contract.

We traded three 1sts for Trey Lance.

Of course he wants a franchise quarterback. Every franchise does. How is this even a serious discussion?
