I was 9 or 10 years old. At Kezar in DECEMBER‼️. Cold as hell‼️ Baltimore Colts vs 49ers. QB Johnny Unitas for the Colts was hurt so Earl Morrall was the backup. My Dad and his friends had season tickets in the end zone by the entrance to the tunnel. Just before halftime the Colts scored and kicked off to the Niners to the end zone where we were sitting. The Niners had a return man that they called "Super Nat" and he wore #1. He takes the kick heads towards the left sideline and scores‼️ But the refs said he stepped on the sideline. And of course the fans weren't happy at all. So as the Niners are running out the clock, my Dad tells me to go down to the chain link fence by the tunnel to see the players go by. I figured this would be a highlight for me and started to make my way down. As I am nearing the tunnel, something tells me to look up to my left and I see a glass bottle (whiskey I assumed) coming at me‼️ I stopped and it hit the fence right in front of me‼️ I figured it wasn't a good idea to be down there so I went back to where I was sitting. The old man asked me what happened and I told him that people were throwing bottles and one almost hit me. When we get home after the game, I started to watch the news. When the sports report came on, they talked about the game of course and mentioned that fans were throwing bottles and that after the game, one of the refs got hit coming off the field and was knocked unconscious‼️
I told my Dad and said I don't ever want to miss another 49ers game again‼️
That game was Nov. 16 1969. The player was Noland (Nolan)Smith who only played 9 games for the 49ers. He made his reputation with the Chiefs and appeared in the movie Mash. The area you sat in was commonly called Whiskey Gulch. I sat right ove rthe tunnel a couple of times Fans would dump peanut shells on the players as well as water, bottles and any type of trash that was handy.

That was also the year the Jets upset the Colts in the SB when Namath guaranteed a win.

That was your first game? Wow. I would have thought you had been to several games given the number of posts you have.

Dad had season tix...so went to a lot of games as a kid. 1988 against Skins Vikings & Saints....thing I remember the most was THAT Steve Young run against the Vikings and John Taylor long TD against Saints. Both times the place went so WILD. Stick was shaking.
I had gone to bunch of games in 84 and 85 but have no memory of them.

Same.
I thought it'd be fun, but it hurt and I cried in the shower afterwards.
I was there too... I hated packers fans after that game.
Was anyone at the eagles game where we stopped Mcnabb on the goal line for like 7 plays? Probably the loudest I've heard candlestick besides the playoff games.

2011 season NFCC! When we lost to the giants at candlestick. Could of heard a pen drop in that stadium when Whats his name fumbled that second punt. Heart breaking but a great experience. Been to a handful more since.
Idk if others feel this way, but I prefer to watch the game at home, instead of going to the game. I like the different angles, stats, comfort etc. lol being at the game is just an all day hassle with limited data/views on what's going on. The tailgate is awesome though.

Niners vs Saints at Kezar stadium - Final score 20-20
Brodie had a meh game, maybe 50% comp and a few picks.
Gene Washington had over 100yds rec with a couple of tuddy's
I got to see my all time favorite Niner in person … HOF'er Jimmy Johnson
The Kezar seats were uncomfortable af
Despite being a tie and a bit of a novelty, this game was overshadowed by the Baltimore vs NY Jets game on the same day … Unitas Vs Namath. I had to look it up to be sure, but Namath had 400 yds passing but threw 6 picksI bet he still got laid that night.
I love these old 49er games at Kezar!!! I have nostalgia for places that were around before I was born!

Mine was in 1994 against the Cowboys, regular season game. Both teams were on fire and it was a fight for the #1 seed. The Cowboys of course had beaten the Niners in the previous two NFCCG's so it was a huge game at this point. I was absolutely shocked at how loud it was. I was just out of high school and didn't have much money, so our seats sucked lol, but just being in the stadium with all of that energy was amazing. Got to see my favorite Niner of all-time, Jerry Rice, score a touchdown on a long pass from Steve Young. Niners won 21-14.
Holy crap, what a great first game.......

1959 SF vs Detroit Y. A. Tittle was our QB and he was traded a couple years later. Kezar was so much fun to wander around in, pretending to be in a Roman palace.lol. Wasn't real crowded as I remember. Parking in a driveway on Haight St. The best weather that SF has is Sept/Oct and this was a beautiful day. I was hooked, a fan for life. The last game my Dad went to was at Candlestick, the 1981 Championship game. We bought season tickets because Bill Walsh went to high school with my Mom. My Dad said that after Dwight Clark's catch that he was done, they had FINALLY won the big one. I love you Pops and miss you every day. Go Niners!
Such a great story, thanks for sharing that! Emotional AF!

Hahaha, wow very cool!!
These are great stories!
For me, my first regular season action was 49ers vs. Vikings 2012 in the old Metrodome......we started the year off 2-0 smashing Green Bay and Detroit back to back, and then got our asses kicked. So humbling to see your Niners get humbled on the road in a loud stadium.........this was PAIN, haha.
I technically attended a pre-season game at Candlestick in 2008, I'm going to guess it was likely against the Chargers........s**tty seats, boring AF, but I mention it because first time at the Stick!

December 27th 2003 vs Seattle. The sick Brandon Lloyd sideline catch game. Also we lost.
